RepairRats.com - Who Wants It???

No. If anything, fold it into the Fuel Rat mission statement.

That's what I was thinking but I was told, by a senior Rat, that they had less than zero interest. I made it clear I was donating it and that I'd just point it at the existing site - they said they obviously couldn't stop me but they had no interest in using it in any way.

I think this is something that we fuel rats could easily work into our SOP.

Seems not.

More alternative Naming Ideas:

This is fun and all guys but can we keep a bit on topic - which is I have this name and I'm willing to donate it to the community, if someone wants it. If someone wants to create a new group with another name that's great but can that be discussed in another thread?

So - back to the topic at hand - does anyone actually WANT the domain?

Depends what counts as a senior rat, but i've seen it discussed a few times and my impression the discussions usually went:

- in the bubble repair limpets are fairly pointless.
You refuel a CMDR, but it's unlikely their hull will need serious repair, and if so there is likely to be a station within one jump for them.
- long range rescues are usually refuel calls.
Most explorers soon learn not to face-plant into stars, or overheat when scooping, and land on planets gently, so the likely number of calls will be very low.
- hull repair calls will still be actioned, and requests for rats as usual.
However there's pressure on module slots. If you have the capacity (basically are you ratting in say an Anaconda, as even an AspX will be tight for space, and anything smaller more so) then feel free to fit one, and call on clients.
- little enthusiasm to refuel PvP / combat ships (using Plasma Slug), or repair them, as the damage is intentional not accidental.
Again rats can call on PvPers wanting fuel/hull in a live combat spot, but mostly seen they should take care of themselves.

The general intent of the Fuel Rats is to help any CMDR in distress (not exclusively fuel), and hull repair falls into this, which is why we nudge stuck ships, help mine mats for jumponium, or push SRVs which have launched into orbit, but fuel is the primary focus.
We are likely to do hull repairs, and have no issue with other groups dedicating themselves to this, but suspect demand is very low.

...(lots of stuff I completely 100% agree with)....

Yup, agree with all of that - again on the small end I was just going to point the domain at fuelrats.com as it seemed sorta natural to me. Figured someone else might think "wonder if they do repairs too? What would their name be? RepairRats!" If they/Rats/someone wants to use the name in a more formal way great but that wasn't necessarily my intent.

Again my only goal here was to get something like this for the community, if they wanted it. I think the Rats are a rather special group and the chance to give something back to them, even if rather small like this, seemed rather cool. Unfortunately it didn't seem they agreed or were interested. If there is someone that would want to do otherwise and use the domain in some way just let me know.

You guys are hideously overthinking this

Fuel, Repair And Techincal Support

Fuel RATS.

I completely agree and honestly am not sure why this has become difficult. At this point I'll just let it expire, if anyone wants it they can ask or it'll be free in 2 years.
