Multiple Combat Ships, and what you use them for?

So pretty close to unlocking the Fed Corvette and was thinking that I already have 3 fully engineered combat ships already (FDL, FAS and Vulture) and was wondering, what would I do with the corvette if I already have 3 others (though the FAS is being shipped to Colonia).

So what do other people do with their multiple combat ships? I already use my FDL for CZ's, Vulture just sits there, but is the only one with a KWS and the FAS for Colonia combat CZ's and HAZ Rez. Not sure what I'll do with the Corvette.

What do others do with their combat ships?

I don't know. I have no use for a 'vette either. /shrug

The FAS is the one I would keep, it's the perfectly balanced fighter imo, BUT, I should mention, the reason I recently built a FGS for Thargoid content was to use a fighter bay and have a best buddy with me everywhere (lol), so since you don't have a ship with a fighter bay currently, that might be one reason? The SLF does add an interesting dynamic to fighting, but as I say, you can get that from an FGS too. Dealing with the requirements of SEVEN hardpoints on a medium ship is also a good laugh. You like it hot? :D

edit: almost forgot the original question, what do I do with my combat ships.

FAS = only one fool needs popping
FGS = many fools to pop

I have set up an Imperial Courier just for doing CZ when I feel like some faster paced action. Might buy a FAS for res sites at some point but so far the Python is doing well for that.

Edit: And a Thargoid specialist will be useful at some point soon-ish, I guess. An FDS maybe.

Need a fighter if you plan to solo (well, you don't NEED but it makes it easier I understand), hence I went for FGS, I never even realised it will take a DUAL bay (Brucie Bonus!), and like I said above, 7 hardpoints...lots of AX weapons AND a large PA. :)

Vulture for Haz-Res, 1 mil rebuy, shields hardly ever go down as they are bi-weave thermal resist and recharge at an insane rate. It's fully engineered, never over heats and is really fast and extremely agile. I guess I use the Vulture 90% of the time. FDL for CZ's with shield tank build. FGS for Thargoid encounters using fighters for distraction. I stopped trading so sold my Python, and just use the AspX to transport rares, and it can fight extremely well with 2X Beams and 4xMC.

I had a conda used for trading, but I hated that ship, if I owned a Corvette I guess it would be for trading or PvP. Your eyes will water when you start buying A rated modules for the Corvette. Fully pimped it's a billion credits and change. costly to run, and rebuy is mental.

In theory, I have a Vette for CZ and a FDL for BH, Assassinations and CZ where there is no large pad.
However, I never bother with the FDL and use the Vette instead.

Vette for fast and easy HazRes and CZ money.
Gunship and Dropship for a bit of alpha striking fun.
Dropships as module storages.
Conda for the super heavy weight assault bomber feeling.

I have no idea. I have one combat ship which I use most of the time for combat which is my Vulture. I do have a viper, eagle and iCourier, but they don't come out very often I suppose my pythen isn't too shabby either. I have no need for anything else.

I've had a Corvette for over a year and it's my main ship, if it had about 4 more LY range, it would be perfect. Python for medium pads, don't use my other ships very often.

It can carry second-most tonnage, can handle CZ's, Res, assassinations, passenger transport (local) just to name a few of its advantages.

Eventually, it may be used for Thargoid hunts when the AX weaponry choices mature.

Yes I forgot about a ship for Thargoid hunting. Maybe I'll convert one of them over to that then and keep the Corvette for CZ's and Rez fun. I am on the fence with the fighter bay as I play alone generally in PvE or on Mobius and not sure if I need to hire an NPC which I don't want to do as I like hording my credits all to myself :). So will have to look into that.

Great responses everyone, you're helping me with your great ideas...

My WarCutter demolishes HazRezs, my Anaconda is my typical assassination mission ship, and I have an iClipper for times when I need to take out a pesky human.

Have a Vulture and FDL kitted for battle too, when I want to get up and personal with the enemy.

Not sure, but I think the WarCutter may get retired if I get a FedVette.

What do others do with their combat ships?

Eagle - Small Game Hunter
Eagle - Ground Attack
Multicannon Viper - All purpose
Packhound Viper - Small Game Hunter
Plasma Viper - Big Game Hunter
Courier - PKer (one of these days, I'ma go seal clubbin' in her)
Viper IV - Tanky fun guy, though time for a weapons re-fit
Asp X (The General Lee) - She has multicannons, a Packhound, and a cannon that sticks out next to the canopy :D It's like flying a tank! :D
DBX - Ground Attack
Python - General purpose, a hauler and mission runner than farms bounties along the way.

Having lots of ships with different roles is fun.

About to get a Vulture myself as a ship I can experiment with. It will likely end up being turned into a ship for engaging thargoids in a wing. My FDL will remain my primary combat ship. I have a pair of rail guns on it (yes, PvE with rails) and it is just too much fun. About to get alternate kit for it based around a huge MC (gimbal with OC or fixed with either long range or OC).

I have quite a few combat ships myself. Right now, I use these ships for fighting:

Federal Corvette
Anaconda
Imperial Cutter
Fer-de-Lance
Federal Assault Ship
Vulture

I have several other ships that are combat-capable but I either use them for other things or retired them and keep them around for sentimental reasons.

Each of my combat ships is built a little differently to be ideal for different circumstances. The Corvette, for example, is my go-to for CZs and combat CGs. The Anaconda is my current anti-Thargoid battleship, and the Cutter is set up mainly to survive player attacks in Open, and to go to player hotspots like all the alien sites. It's also ideal for when there's a trade CG and combat CG in the same system, as it saves me from having to import the Corvette or FdL. The FdL is the ship I use in HazRESs and to keep my home system secure, and the Vulture is set up for lighter combat duty and planetary installation assaults. The FAS is mainly just there for the sake of variety.

Eagle mk II- Git Gud practice
DBS - Silent running practice
Dropship- Dumbfire missiles and fatty flight model
Vulture- pacifier frags and fancy flight techniques
FAS- Pvp fun
FDL- to beat the meta, you gotta know the meta
Gunship- Dakka Dakka
Python- pirate ship
Anaconda- battle miner
Corvette- warzone heavy
cobra mk3- farts and giggles

I have all of the ships and have flown each for awhile. I play PVE and use three combat ships - Corvette, Python, and Vulture. I use the Corvette as a general purpose BGS ship for combat, bounty hunting, missions, and occasional planetary scans. I use the Python for missions, planetary scans, and combat (in systems with only outposts). I use the Vulture when I wing with some larger combat ships and I'm not interested in credits or efficiency of mission completion (e.g. Kill X Pirates). The vulture is fun for taking on smaller ships but it's underpowered for big ships. I used a shield tanked FDL and a stealth hull tanked FAS when I tried out some PVP training, but those ships sit unused these days because, well, I have a Corvette and my game BGS time is limited. I want the max BGS impact for my game time so I use the Corvette and Python for all combat.
