PSA: Not sure if anyone spotted this but a dev has confirmed there will be paid content as well as the free stuff...

I had heard at one point that it wouldn't show your ship's name to others, like on the HUD, unless you also had it painted on your ship with one of the cosmetics. Is this true, or for that matter, was it ever? I never bothered checking (I'm well out in the black 90+ percent of the time), though I did get the classic nameplate cosmetic, just because I think it's a nice touch to have it painted on my ships as well.

That was the plan but luckily FD accidentally told us that in a livestream before it released and we were able to provide feedback early enough that this was changed before 2.3 dropped.

Lol, no. They first mentioned it in the beta notes, then confirmed it in the forums and then re-confirmed it with a straight "yes!" ,in a q&a stream. It wasnt an accidental leak at all.

No, it is not true, as it was changed in one of first 2.3 post release patches.

Yes, that was the plan, and that is how it worked in beta: you see your own name and that of npcs, but you cant see the name of other cmdrs unless they bought a plate. It was a stupid idea and we railed against it pretty hard.

I don't want 'premium content', what I want is not to have to pay for future content as I thought that's what my LEP was for.

So you don't want premium content that will be free for LEP owners and everyone else will need to pay for, you just want normal non-premium content for your LEP and you are mad because you don't want the good stuff, just the average stuff.

Am I understanding this correct.

Good to know. Thanks. I think Frontier made the right call listening to feedback and changing it then.

They do that quite a lot of times, way more they get credit for. Issue is people always assume they can change everything. Sometimes they can't.

But this was very good call from them, yeah.

The problem was that some people have prepaid for all the content (terms and conditions apply, definition of "Content" inconclusive) in advance and they wanted to know what FD's plans were for paid for DLC since they announced recently that Beyond would be free (to Horizons owners) and there was no information about paid content going forward.

I am sorry but... In this day and age, why do you pre paid for stuff? I cant think of that as smart in any way.
And my argument still applies, so far they have been transparent with "me". I cant speak for anyone else, not my job description.

You people are idiots, they've given you one of the most detailed and concise road maps since the concepts of roadmaps was conceived.

I mean what more do you want, 7 dots?

I get it for free? And Frontier looks at what we asked? TRAP! HOW COULD THEY!
It is definitely time that the toxicologists start playing or move on...

Thank you Frontier for the excellent infos at FE17 and sorry for the endless headdesks you might had to endure yourselves. I am really looking forward to the Beyond season.

Be seeing you in the void CMDRs

That would be the crappiest horror flick ever: I have no ears and I must listen. :p

In all seriousness though its not an excuse, many people don't have time or the inclination to listen to 4 chaps sat on a stage patting each other on the back. I've never been to a seminar or CPD event (and believe me I've been to many, sadly)that hasn't had a compete break down of the presentation available to interested parties in detailed chart or summary sheet. At the end of the day their road map is just 4 dots with no information on it at all, its a COMPLETE waste of what little effort that went in to producing it.

I want clarity instead of 'legalise' , when a company starts being evasive and using indistinct definitions it usually means their about to shaft you.

All we have had is that "lifetime expansion pass owners will be looked after and will be getting their hands on premium content" what does looked after mean; discount on the new funding model, free on the new funding model, which is it? Premium content could be a badge and a cheap paint job its all so vague.

To put it simply, do I have to pay again for future non-cosmetic content? That's the question I want answering.

Why would people who dont have the time to watch the expo look at a screenshot from the expo? These people should look here:

What's confusing here I don't understand?

Devs didn't want to reveal that info, they wanted to concentrate on free stuff you will get.

What's so hard to understand about that?

Call me a cynic...

but.. Talking about all the free stuff, and not mentioning, the 'content to buy' smells of 'something to hide'..

If it's not.. Why not mention it, even in passing.

Additionally... 'Premium Content' to me, means especially good content.. Which we're to pay for..

I've no problem if they want to go down that road, and, if the content seemed worth buying, I'd buy it.

But then that raises the question; is the free stuff, fluff and rubbish?

Ooh, so much doubt and uncertainty, scary stuff! Just chill man, game companies will announce new stuff when they announce it, you knew that you got the LEP.

Because its headline and because they keep calling it a "road map" its no more a roadmap than I am the moon. They were very specific in saying they would be releasing a roadmap, they deffo didn't say "we will be releasing a graphic with some meaningless dots on it"
