Kauruk Lockdown - Who's responsible?

Good evening,
I did not imply any sarcasm at all, I am only discussing a fact where in PvP my shields are down and have 83% hull after 2 hits.

This is a ship that can 'live with' Elite Anacondas Etc. in private and solo. There seems to be a discrepancy somewhere.

Not to worry I am happy in a private group or solo as I love this game for it's uniqueness, and in private group it is Superb.

Thanks again for your kind reply.
Regards
Pug

It's alright.

"Open" is a playground for the mucky pups (Edit: I love that expression!). It's best to leave it to them and enjoy the game in peace in one of the existing more social private group communities.

I've posted a potential solution to the problem of lockdowns at CGs, in the Suggestions forum...

I think there should be a new contact, a Marketplace Manager, similar to a black market contact. This contact should only be available whenever the main Commodities area is closed down (only if the station has a commodities market).

  • Commodities may only be sold
  • Only highly desired commodities can be sold (demand >= 500,000 units)
  • Prices are 20% higher than what would be listed on the commodities board
This would allow CGs to continue, in spite of lockdowns, This would have a negative feedback effect, since achieving a lockdown would increase the desirability of participating in a trading CG.

Would be nice: Selling to a MM could help get a station out of the lockdown state.

No one has the right to deny other players from participating in an event, despite how bad or terrible others think the event is.
This guy is scum.
Why?

I have the right to do whatever I please within the rule set FD have laid down when I log into the game. You have that same right. The true scum are the bleeding heart training wheel loving think they can tell other people how to play busy bodies.

To the people asking for mechanics to work around something like this I have to ask, why? You have the tools to fix it.

Of all the CGs to target to make a protest this has to be the worst choice possible.

The event will give the public an opportunity to remember absent friends and departed loved ones.

I get that it's valid gameplay, but how it's supposed to elicit any sympathy for the cause of the protestors (whatever it may be) is beyond me.

Lockdown lasts a minimum of 3 days measured from the time the system went into lockdown. Bounty up all you want, the system is not coming out of Lockdown before Sunday evening at the earliest (I am not sure exactly when the system went into lockdown).

I agree that forcing a Lockdown in a CG system is a lousy tactic.
However, you all have the tools to reverse it. Go out and bounty hunt like crazy in the system. Enough people hand in bounties, the Lockdown can be cleared more quickly within a day or two.

Wrong, Lockdown state lasts a minimum of three days measured for the time the system went into lockdown state.

Yes but if we don't "bounty up all [we] want" then it may last longer.
The aim is to get the lockdown state ended before the CG finished.
The 3 dat minimum still allows this.

To be fair, some people love space trucking and the hauling CG's to help out the narrative in the game and have no interest in combat, you shouldn't be forced by another player to do something else you do not enjoy, just so you can continue trucking.

This is actually just as harmfull to the playerbase, but in another sense as now players who might have had it with the station lockdowns might stop playing.

\I agree that it's bad and harmful and douchey.

I disagree that anything should be done about it.

This is what people mean when they talk about "emergent gameplay." You CAN'T just arbitrarily put a stop to this or half the value of the game goes out the window. If people can't mess with the BGS in funny and interesting ways, there's not a lot for an advanced player to do sometimes.

In future, maybe a few players should bounty up any time there's a CG, just to prevent spiteful lockdowns. Then suddenly there's an emergent metagame between the people who like CG's and the people who like to mess with them. It's not a pretty solution, but it's way more interesting than arbitrarily stopping CG interference for no good in game reason.

What system is this CG in? Might come out there and help unlock the station, if it isn't already unlocked after the 3 day time period.

I've never been into CGs, but helping out somehow seems like fun.

Kauruk.

Outfitting is unavailable but the Shipyard is still working at Moore Terminal if you want to transfer a ship there.

There are no RES in the system. Best bounty hunting for quantity seems to the Nav Beacon which has smaller, lower value, wanted ships. Wings of bigger, high value, wanted ships can be found in USS (Weapons Fire Detected Threat 4) if you have the ship to deal with them.

I'm not sure if quantity of kills or value of bounties is the most important factor in clearing a lockdown.

My bad. Thought karuuk was the station. Least I know now.

Plus, even if it is a credit amount, rather than ship amount, enough small ships would end up being a lot of credits. I don't think it's that bad to bring in people in with smaller ships, every little helps afterall.

This guy is scum.

The guy is using a game mechanic in exactly the way that it was intended. As it happens, I do think he comes across as a bit of a whenever I see him raving on reddit about various aspects of the game's mechanics that he doesn't like but the fact is that the lockdown mechanic doesn't exist as a result of some peculiar accident, it was specifically coded into the game by FDev.

As such, I think calling someone 'scum' for merely making use of it is reprehensible to be honest.

The game's mechanics give him the right to do it along with giving him the ability to do it, so if you want to get your wig off at someone I'd suggest directing your ire at the correct target. In this case, that wouldn't be the guy who is playing the game as intended, but the people who created the mechanic.

Probably worth pointing out that the game's mechanics also give you the ability to turn it round, so given that 'oooh we want to be able to affect the game more meaningfully' has been one of the top ten whines on here since I started playing two years ago, I'd suggest getting out there and cracking on with it. Lockdown is ultimately a result of BGS activity and FDev can't simply God-mod to abdicate the system from the BGS for the duration of a CG, nor should they be expected to.

I think what annoys people more is the fact we all know the person responsible is snickering at their keyboard (or controller), becuase they shut down a CG meant to spread good will, and its 'oh so funny' to ruin good things.

I think there is however a simple way to solve the problem. Whoever ends up being the one who locks down a port, has their name put up for all to see who the culprit was. The fun part is, they'd see it as a badge of honour, while the rest of us, we'd know who to hunt down.

It's win win.

Funnily enough, the faction also running the next AEGIS appeal is going into Lockdown soon as well. Good.

Let's hope this wakes someone up to the fact that it's easier and more entertaining to kill cops and cause a bunch of salt than it is to get bent over the table trying to recover Tissue Samples for that CG. Maybe we'll actually see some change happen.

Why do I feel you know more than your letting on?

Want full disclosure? Saw this thread this morning and thought "Yeah, maybe I can get some people together to try and Lockdown the current AEGIS appeal. In any vaguely sensical universe, anyone who was recovering Tissue Samples would balk at the value of those contributions the CG operators offer, compared to a hold full of coltan"

Just flew there and saw it's already lockdown pending, so, don't even need to do anything, it's done. If you're looking for a witch to burn, I'm not your witch though, there's plenty of people out there who do this sort of thing just for the lols or obscure, poorly defined reasons, like the guy in reddit. I'm just some guy who happens to benefit from this.

I already tried a less disruptive approach which went nowhere.
