Too small to be a player faction... how about a micro player faction?

Sorry I play with a group of 4 other players. The current minimum limit on player factions is 10. We would like to have a dark and nsignificant corner to ourselves. Is there any way to become a faction at a single outpost of in a limited way? Should there be? All of those solo and small groups really are disincentivized to care about the bgs atm. Our choices are pp or join some group that’s been around and has its own politics etc.

Pick a faction you like and go for it. The only difference is you cant select the name.

Or search for an existing regional power that fits your bill in name, politics et al. Thats what ppl used to do b4 player factions where a thing. You find a group you can identify with in a nice corner of the bubble and go with it. Try to make it the premier power of the system and work from there...

So wait....

4 other players as in 5 people total (including you)?

So you only need 5 more people if the player faction number of 10 is correct.

Just start a recruitment drive on the forums with a name, goals and intents. I'm sure 5 other randomns would be happy to help.

Or have you already tried that?

I assumed from his post that the point is he wants to play specifically with this group of four players. I've played group-based games before and just inviting 'five randoms' isn't really a good way to ensure that you get the experience you're looking for from it. Some people are fine playing with anybody and everybody, others want to keep things to a more selective group.

I don't think the 10 player minimum is a good thing, and this is a good example of why. This small group is more likely to stick with their faction than a larger group of randoms.

There does need to be some way of removing abandoned player factions, especially now that another group can't be placed in the same system. But I see nothing wrong with a PF that only has a couple of active players.

Yes 5 total. I have not tried to recruit other folks yet. I was thinking that there is probably a large pool of small pg or single players that would appreciate a "house" to call their own. Many mmo's have guild halls or even personal dwellings, with very flexible easy to enter requirements. Being a micro faction at an outpost within the perimeter of one of the bubbles might pique the interest of such players in participating in the bgs.

You hit the nail on the head. Playing with friends - common backgrounds and interests.

The current mechanic for adding player factions is going to work against your recruitment, since it can take months to get a player faction added. So this leaves you in a catch 22 situation. You can't start a PF with so few members, yet can't recruit without a PF in the game.

just because it's difficult doesn't mean that you can't do it.

Make new friends. It's not like you won't find someone who shares your interests.

There's kinda a big overlap between people who play video games about internet spaceships and people who play video games about internet spaceships.

Get your venn diagrams going and find some people who play this game and like hanging out with other people. But don't force it.

Fully agree here!
