Station on Fire and Thargoid Ship with Spikes

What about this still from the expo teaser?
Lots of flashing red and the advert boards saying EVACUATE!
Perhaps stations aren't going to be as safe as we hope.

I was nowhere near there at any time. And I certainly remembered to put my cigarette out.

On the back wall with all the ships is a Majestic Class and a Farragut with the Gutamayan thruster pod things, clearly a joke lmao.

No no no, Thargoids aren't responsible for those stations on fire!

It actually was a failed communication attempt - their data transmitting communication lasers were adjusted just a little bit on the strong side!
The Thargoid communication officer was disciplined accordingly and had to go to bed (comb?) without supper.

Thargoids are fine people, really! Don't shoot them!

(Nice finds, Cosmo, by the way!)

Yes, and let's think less about Thargoids attacking people and more about the opportunities they provide for the bio-engineering industry.;)

Don't get too excited, it's probably just going to be some passive vfx with maybe the station's services being disabled for a short while. Can you imagine the mountains of salt if a station got destroyed taking with it all the ships that were docked inside it? I don't think FDev has the <insert euphemism for dangly bits> to do it.

I think there'll be Galnet news about a station destroyed by the Thargoids. I doubt they'll add destructible stations. It would be cool though.

This could be a scene of the full trailer with the Klaxian Thargoids. I'd like to see in-game evacuation scenarios in stations that are being attacked by Thargoids.

That's old concept art.

After a year of the game dropping bread crumbs I would have thought this sort of thing would have been in from the off, even be it at some out of the way outpost or low pop systems on the edge of the bubble, much rather have seen that than the Thargoids popping up in USS, almost by invite only. Im sure the hype said be afraid but as of yet nothing I have seen has even raised a goose bump, burning stations, news flash's on galnet, conveys of ships heading back into the bubble from the rim, hell even the odd live stream mock up of fake news, well that might have got me going...

But its not my story to tell. [alien]

I don't see any spikes, it might be clipping or just incomplete work on the model being designed?

Come to think of it, I distinctly remember there being a line in one of the patch notes from somewhere stating that stations could now be disabled. I can't seem to find the reference, and I know it doesn't refer to UA/TS bombing, because that was already a thing for a long time; it was pretty recent.

The implication seemed to be that players could fight stations and disable/destroy them. In fact, one of the first things I did when logging in after whatever update it was (probably 2.3), was target a station and see if I could target its modules and weapon systems the same way as you can with a Capital Ship... but to no avail.

Did anyone ever test this or find out what it referred to? Does anyone else remember it being in patch notes? Like I said, I can't find it.

EDIT:
I found it through Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/60jn6k/has_anyone_actually_worked_out_how_to_disable/

Turns out it was in 2.3 Beta patch notes.
