They don't make huge turreted weps AFAIK. Which is good, because it would be a royal waste of the 2 huge HPs of the vette.

If you are going to do a MC/laser mix, I highly recommend 2 huge MCs and have your smaller hardpoints be lasers. Larger MCs have more penetrating power and thus scale well against larger ship hulls. Lasers don't vary in penetration relative to size, so they are more optimal in the smaller hardpoints in my opinion.

Edit: Huge MCs don't have a firing delay, while medium and large ones do. This is a nice quality of life upgrade for huge multicannons, another reason I recommend them on the vette (over huge lasers).

Well then you settled my dilemma then on which option loadout to use. So I'll take your suggestion then and just do the Huge MC's and rest as turreted beams. That way I can still use the SLF as I found out you can use it without hiring a crew member if you have turreted weapons on the mother ship...

You mean, you jumping into the SLF and leaving the Vette in autopilot? Don't do that please…

I axed the SLF and went with Hull reinforcements.

Tried out the 2 Huge MC's and 5 Turreted Efficient Beams (large and 2 med using thermal vent) and realized I might be better off using gimballed and using FA off more often. Shields were taking awhile to go down, but was having no heat or any dist draw issues at all.

So here's a question, would an overcharged large gimballed beam be any good? I always see people using Efficient and that's what I've generally used in past ships, but was curious if I made this OC and the others efficient if that might help?

I figure if I can get the large and 2 med lasters gimballed that would help regardless and then I could just make the 2 small ones turreted beams to add the thermal vent or something?

I put 3 overcharged beams on mine (large & 2 medium) and 2 Huge MC with 2 missile racks on the small HP's.

I have only done a bit of bounty work at the Nav Beacon before heading off exploring so not tested it to the full potential yet but the overcharged beams are amazing, it was melting medium ships shields in seconds and the two MC's tore through the hull just as fast.

Will have to put it through the paces more when I get back to the bubble :)

Going to pull the shield gen and SCBs off my vette and see how she does against NPCs with just more HRPs and class 7 repair limpets...will probably try to avoid fighting more than one CMDR at a time without a shield gen though...

Did you use thermal vent at all with your OC beams? And what kind did you use? Fixed/Gimballed or Turreted?

No I just put G3 Overcharge on them and they're Gimballed, the Large one had Thermal Shock. No effect on the two mediums, I rolled them all the about 30-35% IIRC.

Ok grat to hear, I'll just try that without Thermal Vent, unless I get it or another one on the roll. If not I'll leave them without any effects. Don't feel like grinding for those 6 rolls to get back up to G5 for each one to get the vent...

Unless you miss. Then the enemy has your behind. And if that target is say, an FDL, your screwed.

This is a PVE discussion; You're never screwed in a Corvette against the AI NPCs. Even unarmed and unshielded, just wake out of there.

The NPCs pose so little threat to anyone who's played Elite long enough to afford and unlock a Corvette, that the best loadout is simply the one that provides the most enjoyment - and for me that's a loadout that maximises pew-pew time and doesn't require me to interrupt said pew-pew with repairs and restocks.
