Mission : Hunting Pirates - HELLO? Oh Pirates... I'm here.

After trying for like 30 times of relogging and restarting.
I finally could get onto the bulletin board and took up my first mission.

Pirate huntin'
The problem being.... I can't find any.
I tried all the planets .
I tried flying to the unknown signal sources.
I tried flying to the navigation beacon.
I tried lapping the station.

Nothing.
The only place where I see ANYONE is the station entrance and the loitering cargo ship that inevitably get shot down every few half hour.

I'm currently regretting my decision of taking that mission .

Yeah me too. I think i had 2 hours to find them. Flew around and found nothing at all.

In my current mission i'm looking for "ARIEL" pirate. I'm guessing it's in the same system, who knows :)

Found the same thing with this mission. Also the kill counter seems to reset if you dock or change system.

From digging around here on the forums it appears that you need to visit an extraction site to do this mission, but I have yet to try it again so can't say for sure ;)

Extraction sites are generally the best place to find pirates as they will be picking on mining ships.

the problem being.... there are systems that doesn't have extraction sites.... or rings.... or gas giants... only big rocky planets with nothing interesting around....

Yeah, we could really do with system maps here.

Without being able to tell what the given system consist of, it's hard to find anything!

You must search for a planet with water around... the pirate must be inside it somewhere :D

I find them...totally by accident. But this is what I "think" makes them appear.

1. Load up your cargo bay with something.
2. Head towards any LP-xxxx-xxxx system.
3. Get interdiction.
4. Receive communication from pirate saying, "See you in hell!"

Seems that's how I've been finding them...by accident that is.

The missions need more work. They should add missions for player groups too so people have more reason to group-up.

Agreed on the Bounty Hunting. It really doesn't give much to go on at the moment.

What might be useful is being able to receive bulletin board updates on pirate activity, I'd assume the named one's in missions are particularly notorious? At least that'd give us a trail of breadcrumbs to follow rather than flying about hoping to get lucky.

Well, we're only at 1.01 version of SB. I'm pretty sure we'll see improvements to mission system with the future updates, so I'd just say: post any suggestions in Beta Discussion forum, where they will be more likely to be noticed by the devs, and watch this space.

I've successfully completed a couple of missions against pirates and feds now. What I did was, after accepting the mission, go to one of the systems listed in the mission description.

Once in-system, head to likely-looking planet. When you get close enough to the planet (a few Ls or closer) you start to see new destinations appearing in the navigation list on the left-hand panel. Some of these will be the usual unidentified contacts, while others will be Extraction Zones (usually have a few pirates), Conflict Zones (Feds fighting Eranin or whoever), Distress Beacons or whatever.

If there's nothing near that planet, pick another and repeat

the problem being sometimes your employer will send you to a system without ANYTHING and you can only rely on being interdicted...and when you do... its usually not a fair fight .... as a matter of fact.. odds are usually against you.... massively.
