Ugly but effective and very comfortable.

I'm a bit jelly of all the cool triple monitor setups. One day... I'm either going to spend an unreasonable amount of RL credits on such a setup and a more capable video card or a more capable video card and a VR headset. I'm leaning more towards the multi monitor setup however.

In the meanwhile, due to lack of space for a dedicated sim rig, I've build a detachable desk mounted solution for my controls:

Whenever Elite receives the "space legs" expansion, the setup is prepared as well:

I think it's going to be pure mouse and keyboard for me from now on. Not only is crazy accurate, but it makes my desk look so much tidier.

My friend, NOT ugly at all!
In fact that build looks amazing. Well done! Personally I even like the woods finish, but if you painted it all black it would look completely professional. nice build!

Thanks...it started out as an Ikea Pello, then was chopped, then chopped some more, then had some wood added to it, then some more wood, then I realized I actually had to figure out what I was doing :)

It has 8 dayton pucks(16ohm) in pairs L/R F/R, 2 50W bass shaker one at the back and one at the bottom - all connected to 3 small amps and controlled with Asus external sound card. A TM TWCS waiting for VKB to make a throttle, CH Fighterstick that awaits them to release their MCG pro(pre ordered) and T-rudder pedals. A nice clicky numpad for menus and a wireless keyboard with pad for everything else.

Lovely, a credit to you.

Next stop some white PVC mini trunking and get all those cables coming down the wall hidden.

But Well done Cmdr.

Cmdr BurnyBurns,
I have often thought about a better setup for my Thrustmaster HOTAS controls but the short intermediate wire has always been the hold up but I think your system would solve this so thanks for the idea which I will probably copy soon.

Ha ha ha...this is hidden away from wife's prying eyes in the cave...and only used with Oculus. Getting myself to bother making it look nice will require some serious threat of physical harm. More likely that in the future there will be a mkII with aesthetics taken into consideration - but that will be if this one broke or FD implements outputting telemetry data for motion platforms.

Besides, all those exposed wires gives it that faulcon delacy/Lakon vibe to it...:)

Good luck and have fun building! :) It took me quite a while, but the end result is exactly what I needed to be able to use the HOTAS more often, while not permanently having it clutter the desk.

I am after a very good comfy chair preferably with wooden type arms (To fit Platforms for Hotas). Have got a gaming chair at the moment, and not impressed with it at all.

Anyone recommend a really good comfy chair with arms?

I built my own chair by going to a local chop shop and buying a car seat, the type that has arms which raise up and down. Some 3/4" ply, the swivel part of my old PC chair, 4 x 19mm bolts and lock nuts and I have a seriously comfortable chair which is multi adjustable as well. I figured that drivers have to spend long hours at the wheel so most car seats are made for comfort and last a long time and I have been proven right. By far the most comfy PC/Gaming chair ever.

Loving the setups everyone! :D

Here was mine after playing Elite for a year which shows more of the room itself and sound system specs, from August 2015 - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...erous-setups?p=2711436&viewfull=1#post2711436

Since then I've got a new PC, upgraded one of the sound systems (z506 to z906), Feedback devices - Subpac M2, Subpac S2 and Kor-fx vest, a Vive, touchscreen 27" main monitor & new 4k curved screen, gone through 2 x52 pro's but recently bought a TM FCS (not pictured).

Keep up the great work all. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's made an ED inspired gaming room! :D

My mind is weak.... I managed to get two Dell U2415 used, so this will be paired with this:

img_20171019_215133wjpia.jpg

The effect is a bit like upgrading from a 17'' CRT to a 24'' Full-HD flat screen. It helps that the bezel of the U2415 is rather thin, so it's not all that intrusive. Only the desk and cable management is currently in utter disarray. It will be fixed. Eventually.

Does anybody have an idea if there's an alternative setting for multi monitors or very wide monitors, that does not display the game as if viewed through a very wide-angle lense? What I would really like to try out instead, is having some kind o panorama image mapped to the monitors. Combining hte monitors and setting the resolution to 5760x1200 results in the image on the left and right screens being very heavily strectched. Edit: Seems the answer to the problem lies in more recent hardware/software. Simultaneous Multi-Projection. GTX 1080...
