Destroyed by an NPC terrorist

There maybe some new tweaks in the game.

Landed on a planetary base recently and flight control warned me to watch out for something (could be terrorists).

Could be the occasional unexpected elite terrorist.

Or multiple mission interdictors dropping in on me and another interdictor when I didn't see them on the contacts in SC.

MoM keeping ED occasionally dangerous to keep us on our toes.

In prior statements, FD acknowledged the existence of terrorist NPC, who will attack/kill randomly.

Use this as a lesson, save up for a Python (bounty hunts earn good money), put top shields, armor and weapons on it and even with 200t+ cargo capacity, you will be able to take out any NPC.

I do it so can you.

Good luck.

Cool, I look forward to meeting a terrorist in game.

Would love to see a vid of an average pve pilot in a Python fitted for 200t of cargo taking out an Elite Anaconda easily. ;)

That's all I wanted to see.
An acknowledgment that this does exist. thanks for that.
I have a python. mostly A rated but built for missions/trading. not equipped for combat
I have 2 billion credits & 5 other A rated ships right now, so money is no object. (no conda's vet's or clippers)
I came back to the bubble in May after an 18 month exploration trip. I'm an explorer 1st and foremost.
I made a Grip of credits from that trip.
And now I'm engineering my asp ex for another long trip. leaving in just over a month.
the bottom line is I'm in the bubble doing fun bubble stuff making fat credits.

But I got owned in a big fast way.

Now I know the terrorist NPC is there.

So now this thread can end.

Thanks

There was a discussion about the NPC's the other day, a CMDR had a fair old ding dong with either a DBX or a DBS, I replied I had trouble taking 1 out whereas Anacondas and the like were easy enough game.

I think it was only yesterday I was in a RES having a pew-pew and along came a Vulture, now usually these are good enough game (I am in 1 too), pew pew ensues and I am winning, in fact as is most of the case for the past few days, a few have not fired back until their shield is down or very nearly down. Well this is when he got a bit excited, he hit me with a PA and then another weapon, it may have been 2 PA's, I'm not sure. We carry on and he gets my shields down to 1 ring, that's when he wallops me and shields are gone, hull to 85% or there about. I get a malfunctioning PP, PD, Thrusters, Sensors and Pulse's. My thrusters come on quick enough thankfully and I get to hightail out of Dodge. I boost away for a bit and repair while he is being kept busy by some other NPC's, I then back to get him as I wasn't going to let that hard earned Bounty to get away. But I had to leave, my pew pews were at 1%, my sensors at 2%, I could do no more.

Now that was fun, I had a bit of sphincter twitch at times but it beats the normal case of having a fight with a ship of your own class and dominating.

OP,
Some NPC's do pack a punch.
Sometimes a surprising amount!

My Anaconda, which is battle ready, got it's butt handed to it from an Elite Python. Just 1.

I have no idea how. Usually I can take on wings of Elite Pythons. But this one wasn't normal. I still got him, but I was left with heavy damage.

It was probably the best battle I'd had in years. :D

In any case, ignore the trolls.

To beat an NPC, you need speed, and good shields.

If you get Interdicted, see what it is that's latched on (target highest threat).
If it's bigger than you, prepare to high wake. If it's smaller, just low wake on it, it can't stop you.

But fight the Interdiction first, it's a lot easier to win these days.
If you begin to lose, zero throttle, and set pips to 2 SYS, 4 ENG, 0 WEP. (I fly in this arrangement at all times).
Pick a Hyperspace target while you're submitting.

When you drop, depending on ship(s), either simply low wake out, or align for Hyperspace and jump to another system. In both cases, boost and drop a heat sink and chaff as soon as they open fire. (A heatsink will drop their lock of you go cold enough).
Boost again to fully align to your vector.
And done!

You'll take little or no damage, and works 100% of the time.
Good shields will prevent any damage, and speed will help you gain distance on your attacker.

I'm either mildly concerned, or somewhat looking forward to an encounter now. I am currently flying a mildly engineered Cobra Mk III with a trading fitout and a pretentious paint job, which isn't what you'd call a strong ship on a good day.

Go the whole hog and outfit that Cobra for G5 DD. One of my fav ships to fly is my fast Cobra III, come to think of it, that isn't even G5 modded and its quick enough for any NPC.

The warning in planetary bases is a thing during some system states - like civil war.

Identify Interdictor - Submit before losing - Dropped, throttle into the blue - turn towards enemy - 4 in ENG - boost behind him - boost in a straight line - open left window, select any nearby system - charge FSD - jump there.

Easy as this to survive ANY NPC in game in everything that has 100/200/300 MJ of shield strength for S/M/L pad ships.

This is not a gitgud advice, but something to think about. NPC are ridiculously underpowered, evasive action is easy. Just don't prolong your pain by fighting the interdiction with a melting FSD. Don't do wild turns and become a huge target at close range and maximum weapon efficiency. Don't jump locally and get mass locked. Don't turn towards a high wake target before FSD is at 100%. Tought that to hundreds. All laughed about NPC afterwards. Slightly modified this even lets you evade most ganking attempts in decent ships.

I got mauled by an NPC Federal Assault Ship with plasma cannons in my Cobra Mk. III a few days ago. I wasn´t expecting such aggressive behavior and my Cobra is only fitted with slightly modified light weight armor.
I managed to get out with a few percent of hull left, but NPCs put up a good fight these days. The skill level required is slightly above casual gaming, but i think, Frontier gets pretty close to the sweet spot, with only a handful of players lamenting about to hard or too weak. There is still that recent Twitter message from SJA though... FEAR THE FUTURE... FEAR IT!

The above advice is good against players, but against NPC? Why would you ever submit to them? The interdiction is easy to win against NPCs. Why waste time?

Especially on NPC it's good advice as they're easy to escape from. Apart from that, a few percent of interdictions are un-win-able - it's better to opt out into submitting when the red blocks have gone half way up than to sit in a delivery hauler in a normal speed instance with a master rated FdL with a still glowing FSD :)

NPC are braindead. Keep a downwards vector "F" and roll only max 45 degrees at once and you will only have 10% of its damage - max.

Show me a vid of you making an Elite Anaconda look 'braindead' please, and you can use any medium ship (be glad I didn't insist on an Eagle, since you said they were 'braindead', it should be easy in an Eagle as well). :)

Well seeing as this thread is still open.. I went back to the civilian installation in Alpha Centauri to look around again.
I discovered satellites that I could scan for needed data. so I stuck around and re-logged..

And guess what?

Along came the terrorist NPC's -- sometimes only one and sometimes in wings.

And I can prove it.

Working on my screenshots.

Bear with me. it's late here. I'll get them up asap.
