The Little Things That You Off

These aren't game breaking or anything other than those simple annoyances you just hate when it happens:

Here are a few of mine that drive me nuts and just curious what others just hate when it happens:

1) Landing and getting the "Alignment Ok", but I still can't land and have to maneuver my ship or find another landing spot (worse on rocky terrain)

2) Going full speed in an SRV ready to make that awesome jump, only to be slightly bumped by a tiny rock or indentation on the ground and spinning out right before the jump

3) Being interdicted fractions of seconds away from jumping out of SC when arriving at your destination

4) Writing a form post only to realize after it's already been posted and despite your searching, you amazingly find the post somehow afterwards
(This one was closed over a year ago though https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...T-quot-about-ED-THREAD/page16?highlight=Annoy)

5) Never finding that one material you need for engineering, despite seeing it everywhere when you didn't need it.

6) Having the forum edit the title because you had wrote "The Little Things That XXXX You Off" (it wasn't even a swear word)

My entries ..

1) Landing on a planet, getting in the SRV, scooting around doing what you need to do, then return to your ship only to find you can't get back underneath it, even if you follow the original tyre tracks of your exit!

2) Taking a massacre mission, knowing that the last time you were in the Rez/Beacon/whatever, like 5 minutes ago the place was crawling with the wanted faction but when you go there they all seem to have taken their lunch break at the same time.

3) You see a juicy mission on the board, perfect for your needs. But being the diligent commander that you are, you quickly do some research first before committing to the mission (like viewing the system map, checking the system etc, maybe even changing ships) only to find the mission disappeared in the 1 minute window you were away.

One that springs to mind is the fact that we cant access our bookmarks from the right panel.

Also the over-reliance on external websites apps for stuff that really should be in the game.

I could think of a few more but its nearly 5am and I have a 9yo who will try his best to wake me up as early as possible.

Just thought of another pet peeve ...

Why can't we have one (1) special bookmark to identify our current 'home' station and a link to a new option in the navigation panel on the left hand screen. Doing data runs or trade runs, when it is time to come home just bring up the left hand panel and ONE click on the button plots your course for the journey. Simple, useful, and effective I think :D

Press (J) to jump I. Can't. Handle. This. One.

Me brain goes pop after 20 of those.

I let Voiceattack do that job, utilize different phrases for the command.

As for a pet peeve, that would be the passenger who wants to go to a different location just moments before you're about to touch down.

When I forget to stock up on limpets

When I dock to do something and get sidetracked and spend a few million then completely forget the reason I docked in the first place the remember right after I launch

5) Never finding that one material you need for engineering, despite seeing it everywhere when you didn't need it.

That's why I collect all g4 and g5 mats

1. "The rumor was right...good JOB I found you first.", I wish they would change it to "The rumor was right...(it's a) good THING I found you first."

2. The way most body kit parts don't fit properly, lay right over other parts or mess up the color scheme.

3. I want gold and chrome for all my Gutamaya/Kruger vessels (and FDL)

4. I had to get rid of my double chin because it didn't fit my lean figure (even with the new jackets).

5. When I accidentally press the launch button at the station, especially right after I land.

6. Black market prices are weak, as are the risks of getting caught and the consequences of getting caught.

7. When a deserted station has 80,000 of something and by your next trip it has 117 left without significant traffic in the system.

8. When you go to make your last jump, see that it's a tauri star and cancel but your reserve tank has already gulped up just enough to prevent you from trying your other two options that were in range.

Large arcade type fonts on my cockpit, magically in an area where nothing should be. (My ship can tell me anything I need to know, ditch the arcade fonts and magical characters)

Esoteric engineer roll results. Just give me the increase in jump range, or engine power, or whatever I am trying to get to.

Engineer rolls. Just give me the update. It's not like she's never done it before. Would you really trust your billion dollar vessel to a mechanic who can't even guarantee her work but somehow gets paid regardless?

Joining the game, checking the missions in the station where you last exited. Finding nothing. Exiting game to avoid the hop scotch for 12 hours to find something interesting to do.

No storing modules in Jameson (that would defeat the concept, wouldn't it?)

22 million to ship my Cutter to Ceos, but only 2 million to fly it back full of gold.

1) Forgetting to do something at a station and have to go back
2) having the one medium pad on a outpost be in use while a hostile NPC tries to "pirate" me (yes, this happens)
3) not having the NPC contact for a mission show up
4) having to drop out of SC to talk to an NPC contact (just send me the direct message you are going to send me when I drop out)
5) SCB spamming
6) Scanrammers
7) How this forum handles numerical and bulleted lists, and the lengths to which I go in order to not use them
8) People using any excessively dark font on this forum
9) beige
10) orange HUD

In my experience the dark font comes from copy/paste without using "paste as plain text".

Few more:

Dropping into convoy USS.. I'm an admiral, they are federal navy ships. not even an o7. Officer on deck! Stand at attention. I want to see some open ranks here, some review... prepare to be boarded.. you call that clean? THAT!?

Ooh our ally! You're always welcomed here, as we ram your ship and then issue you a warning about your flying. Welcome to North Korea.

Why can't I sell my materials to a station instead of dumping them? Why can't I sell my data? Surely these atypical thinggies are worth a fortune, they are so atypical as to be extremely rare, right?

Are these stations ever going to be fixed? As much money as I bring in and donate and they cannot even remove the scaffolding? And welding. WELDING.. in an O2 rich environment. That's just great.

Stations that fire INSIDE. Like having your home security system be explosive devices.

Can't jump because my ship is drifting sideways a bit. That somehow prohibits the massive amount of energy required to jump 50 light years.

50 light year jump? few seconds. 50Ls trek to station? 2 or 3 minutes.

<wake> Really? What are they waking, empty space? Oh watch out Goose, don't get in that jet wash you'll flat spin!

- no matter what ship, cockpit controls always looks he same (layout)
- unable to quickly swap modules from stored ship - need to board it, watch how platform rotates and park, enter all those menus just to store module. Only to go back to previous ship to see the platform rotating again. And try forgetting storing different module...
- speaking of menus - as a PC played I HATE console friendly design (keyboard navigation). I have mouse for clicking .
50 light year jump? few seconds. 50Ls trek to station? 2 or 3 minutes.
- so much this. Time I spent flying from star to station would give me 150 LY distance
- fast pitch and roll, snail yaw
- instant cargo loading/unloading. I'm hauling 100 tonnes of stuff, that's about 2 train cars...
- omnipotent passengers (how do they know I'm being scanned?)
- inability to actually buy engineering stuff. If it's so demanded there's probably someone who would offer it for sale
- limited capabilities of refineries. Normally you load rocks and filter EVERYTHING, not target specific mineral. Biggest copper mine is a fairly large silver supplier

Right hand drive ships. I know, any ship with two seats next to each other has to be right hand or left hand drive and the developers are based in the UK. There's no reason why they'd be left hand. It's disorienting af in the FDL though, especially with the windshield frame being off-center and blocking your field of view. Having the option to choose which side you want to drive from would be nice.

I don't mind the left or right. I don't even mind the large frames in the way. What gets me is that all the electronic nav aids are HUDs - and yet somehow they get occluded by the same canopy frame.....which would only make sense if they were projected outside the ship itself.....which of course is utter nonsense!

This one is infuriating, also happens A LOT with ASP Explorer lol - you keep bumping in to it, then you have to "dismiss" the ship, wait until it can be recalled... ughhhh

The fact that there's no dedicated discovery scanned slot, so you totally waste space on anything other than a small ship. Mad, as all commercial airliners have weather radars, and all the navigation kit they need as standard, but in 3303 no one thought to include anything as standard.
