Can we play yet?

The Target audience for me are traders and explorers. So combat pilots are welcome to sit out on the CG's as far as I am concerned.

The Target Audience is Elite dangerous players.

People need to end their sectarian attitudes in this game.

The only people who are not Elite dangerous players and should be set aside are habitual cheaters and griefers.

otherwise the rest of us just wanna play the game.

So what. I mainly enjoy CGs that are based on BH or CZ, (like the idea of "protecting traders"), but I don't feel the need to whine about it everytime a CG doesn't include these activities, and I usually spend that time working on other objectives. I hit a span a few months ago where every week there was a BH CG, (not to mention the three or four consequtive ones prior to 2.4) and made $5 to $7 million in bounties every night and then capped that off with the $18 to $20 million CG reward. The last few haven't directly offered that kind of experience, so I've spent the time unlocking Palin and investigating Thargoid stuff, and getting into Power Play for the first time so I can get the packhounds I want.

Even if I just had to BH to protect traders or support the CG,there is nothing stopping me from doing so. I may not be rewarded by the CG this time, but so what?

I don't confine myself to one specific role or activity, so for me, there is always content available.

Anyway, as you were.
"I'm not bothered by this, and so by extension, nobody else should be either. I'm currently unlocking Palin, therefore your opinion is invalid."

Why is this thread still going, all we are getting is combat whinge about trader whinge and vice versa.
Change the record.

the combat pilots who will use the weapons these trade cg's are being used to advance

look at the participation rates, then tell me how sensible it is to exclude combat players from the plot development

According to you. You however are not the target audience. There are far more people involved in exploration and trading than there are in combat. Combat is just a means to an end and is not the sole focus of the game. Again it might be for you, but for the vast majority or people who play the game, combat is circumstantial and is not their primary focus. Its just another job like, mining, trading, or exploration.

I think CGs to move the story along is a lame premise all together. Yes we get the carrot at the end of the week, but we all know that the content is being rolled out on a week to week basis and there is nothing we can do to accelerate or augment that in any way. When your entire plot line advancement relies on hundreds of week long time gates since launch, its not possible to fool anyone. We know that actual content is going to be extremely slim and giving it out week by week will make it seem larger than it is.

Cute, and I'll even give you extra cutesy points for the little emoji.

Point to where I said anything about anyone else's opinion being invalid (its kind of inherent in "opinions" that they are neither valid nor invalid, so I don't get this), or that no one else should be bothered by whatever.

FYI, rolling eyes on the internet is just as childish as it is when a 12 year old girl does it in real life.

clap.....clap......clap......clap.

Two combat cg's in Colonia!

Nice. I think ED is staffed by off duty parking infringement officers.
The only thing visible past the derision is disappointment.

And while I'm here, for all of those hell bent on taking the "target audience" comment out of context;

tell me , who are the target audience for anti-thargoid weapons if not combat players ? traders, miners, explorers?

We want to go back to thargoid combat, but the tools are geared to trade cg progression. We cant help directly doing what we want to do.
So many players happily playing their own choice of content counter with "do something else"!

Blaze your own trail. No one is saying provide less trade options, less data, mining, exploration or passenger content.
I simply want a combat content that moves the new season features forward, same as the trade players have.

Draw your own conclusion, but if placing two combat cg's in Colonia is any indication of the thought that goes into cg's then I give up.
back to the black. Ill revisit the thargoid content in six months when theres something entertaining to do.

It'll be just like engineering again, yay.

What is wrong with having the traders do the hard work in getting the combat people what they need?

How would combat help in the development of new technologies?

You know, if this were a proper war, the Thargoids would be actively trying to disrupt said trade routes to stop the development of super weapons used against them. These Thargoids need to study some history and play Silent Hunter. Then our own combat forces would have something to do.

This war is playing out as TBS, not RTS as it should be..

Did anyone even read the comments on CGs by FDev? The CGs not related to the Thargoids are CGs that were requested by players, of which there is a back log.

There have been several flame threads against CGs in recent weeks, but no one mentions the fact that many of them are submitted/requested by the community.

Community submits requests for content (to the extent that there is a backlog), FDEV provides requested content, community complains about it and ridicules FDev.

Can't really win, can they?

As long as they ignore the basic stuff, and tack on CG after CG, probably not.

The underlying balance issues poison a lot of stuff, since the game gives undue combat weight to people with massively engineered ships. Which cannot be replicated without investing a lot of boring time. And admittedly, some people like that gameplay pace, and only play ED.

Me? I've got a growing list of Steam games that haven't even been INSTALLED yet. I'm still chewing a big meaty mouthful of Divinity: Original Sin 2. And IT IS ALL PLOT. At no point have I just run back and forth between two areas to get a few more gold.

And that is my biggest gripe. Instead of putting in megaships, better networking (or ways to dodge the issue), and other things for players to build and tear down, it's just space trucking and murder hobos.

Space trucking. Space trucking in distant areas with no docking (exploration). Murder hobo-ing (all combat). And all on top of some odd balancing decisions (looking at you, limpet tonnage and 6 different controller types!).

Seriously, SIX different types of limpet controllers.

But...they are providing specific content that the community requested. If there are two combat CGs in Colonia, it is because they were requested, by the community.

So which of the communtiy, of their customers, would you like for them to ignore?

Why ignore any of them? Have a little bit of everything on offer instead maybe

and why put the new thargoid combat behind a cg tier progression wall?

they did this by design?

Did anyone ever see the Sienfeld episode that had the "Soup N A Z I " in it.

Ive played this game since launch and love it. This is only my third gripe in many years,
but sometimes playing ED is like standing in line waiting for the soup.

To address your primary concerns about combat not being used with the thargoid CGs: Firstly, if the CG hits tier 1, a new weapon is going to be added, subsequent tiers merely expand the types of surface installations where they can be found. Secondly, the CGs are about gathering the raw materials to make the weapons or modules. How is going pew-pew on a bunch of NPCs going to help gather raw materials? Now then, where I think FD missed the mark was not adding a companion bounty hunting CG in the same system as the aegis CGs. Why? because some players like to put systems into lockdown for the lulz, CG systems especially. A bounty hunting CG can help to stave that off or prevent it entirely. Note that lockdowns have a minimum duration of 3 days. I'll let you figure out the implications of that. So, assuming you have caught my drift, combat can help an aegis CG, it just does so indirectly. And you don't need a CG to go bounty hunt to try to help keep a system out of lockdown, feel free to work the BGS for yourself. Help those who are trying to get you, and the rest of us, weapons. But I suppose complaining on the forums does require less effort and thought.

As far as combat CGs go: There have been combat CGs in the past few weeks, so its not like they are being ignored. And this week there are two of them. Congratulations, your wish has been granted.

If you kept up even a little bit you would have read from my very own posts that we have been doing exactly this all along.
and thanks for your generosity with regards to bounty cg frequency and location, im sure one every few weeks is great for everyone.
meanwhile those who prefer space trucking can go back to enjoying several each week.

but wait surely jumping combat ships to colonia is combat isn't it?
well no, it isn't its a jumpscreen countdown and loadscreen for all the hours of playtime many have available.

Yeh, I have to say I see the Colonia CGs as trolling combat pilots. I have less interest in going to Colonia than I do hauling poo around the bubble. Now they will say there were two combat CGs and go back to trade CGs. In the bubble.

/sigh

Exactly. How about nerfing cargo bays until traders go mining in Sag A for an upgrade. Imagine the outcry then.

1) I don't have time to read every post of a thread. I work with what I have read, which usually amounts to the first post and the most recent page of posts.
2) Did I miss something and we are at a point where there must be a CG in order to bounty hunt? No? Then go find an extraction economy with some RESs and have at it, or any system with a CNB. I have skipped out of a few BH CGs because I had a good BH system. In fact, you might want to check out the Chambo system, last time I was there, plenty of RES.
3) Hey, you wanted a combat CG, and you got not one but two. Ask and ye shall receive. FD is working through a backlog of CG right now, and maybe they just wanted to get these two done with. Bit of a shame that these two are the only ones this week, but they are there. Kinda like asking a genie for "a million bucks" and complaining when you get one million male deer on your lawn. Failure to specify.

I'm not much of a combat pilot, but everything along the lines of "you guys have two combat CGs now, stop complaining that it's a bit far" sounds like nonsense to me. It's like saying "don't complain about being hungry, we gave you a perfectly good turd sandwich"
