Can we play yet?

Are combat pilots and trade pilots different? I'm elite in both. I do both regularly.

If by "risk", you mean "die instantly with no chance of fighting back", then yes.

I *was* a combat pilot. Now, I'm an old poodle. :)

This is the exact reason high money earning methods are nerfed. More than once Frontier have said they reduce certain methods to make them all equal, as they want to give people "choice". After Rhea, Frontier stated they didn't want people gravitating towards the easier method and ignoring other ones.

So yes, Frontier do understand this - but for some reason the same logic is not being applied to the community goals.

Obsidian Ant, did you just use the words "logic" and "community goals" in the same sentence? :)

I participated in two CG's total, 1 combat and 1 trade. That was all I could stand to take. You either trade, or bounty hunt, that's it. Every CG is exactly the same thing other than what the paragraph says that describes the CG. Way too boring for me without variations.

They also nerfed the payout of passenger missions in general, as can be seen from the patch notes (and is obvious in game), instead of increasing the payout of other missions.

There is always two ways to adjust methods to make them euqal, but FDEV likes to just strike the nerf hammer.

But back to the OP:

We do the unlocking, you do the shootin. It's a community effort.

Else I might complain why I can't take out Thargoid Interceptors by hauling 400t of paladium at them.

Firing it at high fractions of the speed of light at them might work... :)

Stuck my nose in here expecting to see post after post of happiness, the OP wanted combat CG's and both CG's this week are pure combat. Where are the celebrations, the thanks to the CG Gods?

Seriously, I would hate to be the one organising the CG's: If you make it a trade CG, the combat guys get upset - If you make it a combat CG, the trade guys get upset - Either way the poor Explorers always seem to miss out.

Since everyone interested in CG's should be viewing this thread, lets see if we can come up with the perfect CG scenario that at least pacifies each of the three groups? Any takers?????

I just checked in on one of the Colonia CGs - 18 participants. Calling it a "community" goal is a bit generous, I'd say ;)

I did begin this thread with such a y attitude I'm not surprised he and many others took offense, appolagies again for that.

that's a nice attitude, Sup3rfluiD, but the issues remain. and don't fret, i'm not dragging you into confrontation with any 'superpowers' over an issue i couldn't care less about, namely a bland series of cg and patches sold for more than a year as the big surprise and exciting narrative of the game, and much less about the fact that even those cgs are poorly thought out. it's all about the attitude:

In defence of Brett who is at least making himself seen throughout the community,

exactly, he could have spared it this time. addressing someone with a redundant question and the stated intent of 'cutting to the chase' is just mockery, only aggravated by subsequently ignoring the thread (he's been quite busy in others since). i find the display of such poor attitude from an important spokesperson of the company striking and worth pointing out. thus, i'm just poking on that, for fun, and will remember it whenever the cynical 'we listen to you' is paraded again. nothing to do with you, bro!

What combat pilots that attack traders? I was outside a CG a few weeks ago, sat there for an hour or 2. There was nobody attacking anybody.

(NB: I have been playing on XBox) Luck of the draw. It isn't constant but it's there. Over the course of a given Trade CG played mostly in open, I'll see two or three sessions shared with PvP pirates/murderers. Occaisionally I'll see someone trying to defend traders though sometimes I wonder whether this is a temporary behavior until they get bored.
