NPCs are now using hatch breaker limpets

Or, at least, they're using them more.

Got interdicted by a Diamondback Scout, and said to myself "Ha! 'Tis but a feeble enemy, I shall smite him most rapi...JESUS CHRIST!!"

Consider yourself warned :)

Yes, they do. Today I went into a HAZRES and had some neofabric in my cargo, a reward from one of the last missions. They of course started to attack me and with hatch breaker limpets stole the cargo. Was kind of interesting. Last week I had a similar encounter where an Anaconda interdicted me and while we were fighting it used hatch breaker limpets to try to get some of my cargo. I destroyed the Anaconda and retrieved my cargo from space. lol

It definitely mixes things up a bit. I like it. It means a relatively feeble ship still stands a chance of making you fail your missions.

They have been doing it for a long time, I like it though. Makes you switch from the typical Shueld booster stacking

Good sir, your cheerful post has brightened my day by 1000 cd [up]

Yeah. I forgot that I had a point defense along the bottom of my Conda not long ago and that thing was working like crazy one night when I was farming at a Haz Res. Was mission reward cargo I had there as bait. I forgot they had limpets (or that limpets are back in npc hands). It was interesting.

Does your own cargo show up as legal salvage in those situations?

Still bugs me that I get attacked by pirates, and yet I can't grab their "tasty cargo" after I fend them off. They attacked me, and I can kill them legally, but it's still illegal to scoop their cargo?

Ah, reminds me of the day my FSD got sniped by a rather skilled NPC.

"Tis but a flesh wound! Have at you!" *Powerplant explodes* All while hatch breakers were working their way through my stuff.

Never happened again, but it was a shocking display of brutal intelligence. FSD, Powerplant, AND cargo extraction...

Limpets and cargo hatch failures don't make mission critical cargo drop.

Yes, unless it was stolen to begin with.

Given they're pirates, it was probably stolen in the first place :)

Why?

You blow them up and take their cargo. That's piracy.

(edit - but retrieving your cargo isn't piracy)

The punch line to this comical situation is that when they steal your cargo with Hatchbreakers it stays in their holds and doesn't vanish.

Yes its legal. As far as I remember, the limpets took 11 tons of iSlaves out of my ship. After I finished the pirate I retrieved 10 tons. One must have been gotten destroyed while I was in the fight with the pirate. Afterwards I had to hurry to pick them up, so that they don't freeze to death. Poor iSlaves, few of them already suffered from frost bites.
