Corroded paintjobs without spikes please!

Guys,

Am I the only one, who would love an option to be able to buy only the "rusty" paintjobs from the raider kids? I mean people, who are roleplaying psychopathic Max Max style maniacs are surely a minority, but there are a lot of people, who would enjoy a rusty, heavily used ship. The normal wear on paint isn't really optimal for it, oftentimes it looks perfect at around 30% but not lower and it's also supposed to badly affect the hardness of the hull.

Here are some examples of the cool corrosive skins that are in game:

I know there are in a pack because that's how Fdev can make more money, but there are also paintjobs in the shop, that were part of a pack but are sold now separately because they were popular.

So, do you think the corroded paintjobs would be popular? Would you be interested in buying only them without the raider ship kit?

I agree. I would love some worn looks on my ships a-la Star Wars.

I would totally pay for them. Wish we could have different worn paint schemes. Worn tactical paint jobs please!

At the risk of sounding overly critical, it's my opinion that these don't even look like rust. They're just too muddy to look like a rusted ship.

They look more like the kind of low-res texture we accepted as "terrain_Dirt03" in old, early 3D games like MechWarrior 3.

Yeah, I've stumbled upon them, when they've introduced the preview in the hangar, haven't even seen them in the shop before, because I wasn't interested in those spiky kits, so I didn't click on details. It was actually the only Python paint job that I liked :D

You don't need to apply the spikes. The paintjobs and bumpers, spoiler, etc. are separate items in your livery options.

..............

Not liable to be rusty in the vacuum of space are they? ;)

I presume they are corroded by the blood from the poor innocents that the blood-thirsty pirates have slaughtered. :)

This idea is kind of why I like the "Squadron" paint packs. They look used and rather industrial.

It would be great if a bit of the mis-matched panel paint feel of the Squadron paints could be mixed with some of the corroded paint effects.

The Raider spikes and scary/angry bits are meaningless to me. However, I do sort of like the little non-scary greeblies pieces that the Raider kits include. Makes the ships look as though they have been modified.

(And I actually kinda think that it would be really cool to have the option to have some of the greeblie bits appear on the ship as included parts of certain Engineering mods, to create a visual sense of these modifications.).

I'll stop now!

Yeah, I know I don't have to add the spikes. But I have to buy them and they aren't cheap :D I wouldn't ask if not for other paintjobs that are also buyable outside of their sets.

Well, I've previewed them in-game and there were at least 2 from each set that looked decent. Some are more like you describe it :D

FDev is giving us the next season for free and you are complaining about how they are bundling the cosmetic items?

I'm not complaining about anything. Just saying most people wouldn't buy a psycho-raider job, but they might want a much cheaper old-ship paint job. And we already have other skins that are part of sets and at the same time sold separately, what's your problem with this? :D

I'm lucky enough to have the Horizons skins on my Cobra Mk III.

The grey Horizons Cobra... Now THAT looks industrial.

Might apply when I can log in, actually. :)

... for example? (I might have missed some but I thought all other ship kits were just "bits".)

That's right. What I'd like to see is that the corroded paintjobs would colour parts of the non raider shipkits accordingly and not just in plain brown, beige or whatever... Looks kind of *meh to me...

I believe there were conversations initially about whether or not this would be separate from the ship kits, but the decision was made to keep them together. I'll forward to our store team as a consideration but - as always - no promises. :)

I think he means, for example, the Cobra 3 skin like "orange rattler" is available as a stand-alone skin purchase, or part of a pack.

Oh, don't misunderstand me - I see no reason why the corroded paint-jobs shouldn't be available "sans pointes ou crampons" so to speak - I like my AspX corroded jobbie and don't "wear " any of the bits.

This kind of nit picking and whining in the main forum is cancerous.

I really wish the textures for the corroded paint jobs were of a better quality. They seem to be much more blurry than any other paintjob - so much so that I thought I was looking at an LOD bug the first time I saw them. If they're improved, I'll probably buy a pack or two.

I'd buy, at least for my Python. Not in the current bundle though.

Cool! I hope it is added to the Raider kit. I only bought it to give my ASP that scrapheap challenge feeling so I used the non-spikey verions. Well, as much as they get.
