Green Lights, some people need to be told...

You know, the green lights that signal which side of the station entrance/exit to use...

Well maybe the nice lady station announcer might mention it. Just sayin...

Docking computer would tend to disagree with you. While when I am manually docking I try to hug the green side, most of the time I'm lazy or I want another beer so I let the docking computer do the heavy lifting for me and it goes right down the middle of the letter box.

This leads me to conclude that there is no correct side to come into the station, you just need to be careful when docking.

In an online game you will never ever get people to follow a protocol like that.

Well, maybe on a boat simulator full of like minded people.

I havent tried the docking computer yet, sounds like it has a bug... :)

I assumed that the green and red lights were meant to indicate best/correct approach though I admit its a bit of a moot point if you are piloting a Lakon...

I thought that the green and red lights were like the red and green lights on a ship. One for starboard and the other for port?

While I always try to stay near the green side when exiting a station, I have been unable to consistently spot the green and red lights on the outside. *headscratch* Am I blind or were they removed?

You are not blind, i also can't see the red and green lights on the outside of a coriolis station.

They used to be on the end of the zoaster rack, now i just see 4 blinking green lights right on the station wall.

You have made an incorrect assumption on what the lights mean.

The actually are port/starboard lights, so you enter the station with the correct orientations. They are not go/stop lights.

Yes thats what I thought. I understand most players arent going to look at the forum which I why I suggested that maybe the station announcer could mention it. Its not a biggie...

I think the outside reds'n'greens are moved to the station itself, they are hidden by the toaster rack now.
However, if the holo ads are rightiside up, the green was on the left. This means the green from the inside will be on the right.

Ok guys, now I'm totally confused. I also thought I should enter/exit on the green side. So the green should be on my right then, and just look for a safe side when approaching the letterbox?

So long as you're not blasting in and out at full throttle with your landing gear up, it's fairly easy to use the lateral thrusters to dodge someone coming the other way.

Evidence for:
Misguided belief that it's like traffic lights instead of a standard naval orientation indicator.

Evidence against:
Magentic push to the middle to keep you off the walls.
Docking Computer plots a path through the middle.
Large ships take the whole slot.

No.

I am glad I started this thread to help make things clearer...

I am guessing that there are a relatively small number of USA yachtsmen playing elite. Green means go and red means dont go pretty much anywhere, doesnt it?

My initial suggestion that the station announcer indicate which side (colour) to enter and exit seems sensible, However, quite honestly, life's too short...
