My War cutter

well ok, it's maybe not exactly awful, but here is the thing, a tank cutter is not going to be able to keep that boost up if he wants to tank. he can do maybe 2 boosts and then its back to crawl speed again.
attacking ships like for example the FDL or the FAS with their cruise speeds of 300+ and boost speeds btw 500-600 is not going to have any problems keeping up as they can keep 4 pips to engines at all times unless the cutter decides to fight back.

It is however possible to match the speed of assault ships with a cutter if he builds for that. and flying a lightweight modded cutter packed with PD's is probably the safest thing someone can fly in this game.
but flying a tank with the intention of running is just a contradiction and never a good idea.
Why compete with small agile ship ?

A big heavy ship will never be as agile as a small ship... And considering how cutter is really bad at turning itself... It should defenetly not try to compete with agile small ship.

In the other hand shield and hull tanking is a good idea for battleship. And like someone wrote somewhere, big three ships are meant as support ship not as godlike ships killer.

that's not really what i am talking about. i am not talking about competing whit small ships, and i am not talking about agility.
i am talking about speed and about running away. If your are not planning on getting into any fights and plan on running away instead then don't build for fighting, build for running instead.

Thats literally already happening,now for everyone else saying ive only got 3200 shield health....guys....i have 8k, they literally need to burn through 8K shields/health. You know how in a moba you got a resistance tank and a health tank? This is my health tank, not my resistance tank.

If this is true *idk if it is someone correct me if im wrong* when i bump my shields up to max that shoots it up to 16k. So thats a LOT OF SHIELD for anything to burn through, and this actually counters plasmas. Plasmas have absolute damage, meaning they ignore resistances. How do you beat something like that? Stack shield points. Why else do you think that when you ram a planet with a resistance tanked out ship that it drops your shields a lot, but when you ram it with a shield health tank ship that it barely drops it going full speed?


Also what is with all of you saying the boost speed is low? Like this is my dirty drives almost maxed out at 5.

ok you see with that, ive come across that before. Thats when i end the task. I ONLY do that when bull**** like that happens.
 
OP can call it "king of PvP" for all I care, as long as they don't get indignant if it gets flat out murdered, either skillfully or by cheese-o-torpedoes ;)

OP seems pretty chill though, so that's the main thing. Blaze your own trail and all.

and that was without the prismatics and it was lower than 4k at the time
 
So OP, you have 8K+ MJ

Have you heard of Mines? Special mines that can remove 8K+ of MJ Shield in about 30 secs or Less?

Get hit by a cmdr who knows about these mines and how to use them and you can kiss goodbye to your bank Balance if you want to take the Trutter out again!


How do i know all this?

My Vette with 6k+ MJ shields got taken down by a Cobra in 30 secs. Expensive lesson!

If there was ever a reason for SDC to exist ... it's this thread. :D No one is too good for the "don't fly without rebuy" rule, unless they are consciously playing Iron Man.

If they were eating through your shields, it wasn't cheese-o-torpedoes. The reverb cascade torps directly damage your shield generator, meaning once enough have connected your generator hits 0% and shields go from full to completely bye-bye until repaired.

They can be evaded if you're prepared for them but in many cases they're frowned upon even by the "proper" gankers. Cheap and skill-less way to kill shields on a bigger ship.

I don't want to whinge, just learn from him as he hit me hard and before i even had time to say What the Flip, no shields, by the time i tried to HW out, no Power, by the time..........DEAD! and facing a hefty rebuy!

But thats is it you CAN'T!! They don't interdict you, they sneak up Silent Running in a Res/CZ wherever, they hit you hard and Shields down, you are not even aware what has gone on, so you are fumbling around wondering why you have no shields, then no power and then REBUY.

Don't be so sure of your self. I am an Elite Pilot of 3 years, i PvP and PvE, but this took me and took me well!

Like seriously, ive had people sneak up on me. Know what happened? they were getting hit by my elite imp fighter :p

I don't frown on them. There are plenty of counters and those that fall victim have only their arrogance or lack of imagination to blame.

I use them so infrequently that I don't even have any in storage and would need to reengineer some to equip them, but cheapness isn't what keeps me from using them...their one-hit-wonderness is.

no its not quite working like that.
i'll start with explaining Plasmas - they only do 60% absolute damage, 40 % is still going to be thermal. meaning a raw hp tank vs plasmas is only going to be 10% more efficient than a resistance tank, Hp tanks are great if you like to go and ram things though as collision damage is 100% absolute damage. but in every other case other than those two resistance is more efficient.

and afaik placing 4 pips into systems does not simply just add resistance. as i understand it adds a armor value and not a resistance value, and your resistance value is added after that so it looks something like this: 1000 thermal damage - 4 pip in sys (-58%) = 420 damage, then 420 damage - your resistance ( -2.3% thermal) = 410.34 damage.

and because the system works like this is why we can't build res tanks that has full immunity to various damage types.

you get more speed with lighter weight, and your Prismatic shield and heavy duty boosters are heavy man...

Pas are 60% absolute 20% kinetic 20% thermal.
