Rinsing Palin alien tech missions for 1/2 billion in 2 days.

So, peripherally related to this: the alien resin, tech samples, etc; all have a "galactic average" value of roughly half a million credits. But everywhere I've taken them, the best offer is closer to 20,000cr. So, wheeeeeeeeere can I sell them for anything CLOSE to the galactic average? Or is it just a big fat lie?

Pray tell me more - I need more billions :D

Eddy, go to Obsidian, get a Cobra with 3 cargo resist racks an AMFU unit and 16 tons of cargo space. Accept alien tech missions there.

When you get to hip 17225 gather 10 alien resin, 4 tech samples, 4 bio matter.

Re dock at Obsidian and board surf. Take items round Maia.

4 days later, you can join the bilo club.

Good luck surviving the grind of this.

Welcome to riches.

No lie, missions are offered at Obsidian at the moment, when you dock. Look in your messages. 1 ton 5 milo, 4 tons 20 milo. Best deal in game yet. Get to it.

Opinion: I do believe this was bolstered from its previous form to accommodate interest in the local wildlife. 1 or 2 runs covers most rebuy costs from Thargoid Battles.

Sidenote...
Alcazar's in Merpoe is fresh out of Lockdown.
There is no outfitting at Obsidian, and no shipyard in Maia.
Make sure to click the X in the message if you want to pass on the current mission offering. Redock after doing so (and sometimes relog) to spawn a new mission.
Even though it may seem like Illicit Cargo, the drop points in Maia will never fine you for it.

I bought the cobra at another station in the Nebula and could outfit at Indra and another high tech there. It's a thing. 1/2 billion was possible before boredom set in.

EDDB provides an interesting insight into this.

According to EDDB, the maximum selling price for these commodities is around Cr20k so quite how they end up with an "average" price of Cr500k is anybody's guess.

I guess it's possible the average is calculated by including the payments made for Palin's missions but it'd be a bit wacky if that was the case.
I mean, I've just done a mission to deliver a couple of tonnes of Palladium which paid Cr2.5m but I doubt missions like that skew the average price of Palladium.

There *may* be a market somewhere which buys them for extraordinate amount - much higher than this "average".

It won't be on EDDB unless someone actually was there with datascraping client to submit to EDDB.

It's a mission reward.
Mission rewards not counted against "galactic average" of commodity. I believe average computed automatically from available markets (their servers actually *do* know about *all* possible/existing markets, unlike EDDB, which relies on player submissions).

Thinking about it, I wonder if sites like EDDB calculate their "average" or whether they just insert it directly from the game's data?
Presumably, it MUST be the latter, either that or somebody's manually adjusted the average displayed on EDDB.
Might be nice if EDDB displayed both a calculated average and the "official" one.

I was wondering if somebody doing the CG at Colonia might have some insight into the prices there.
Thing is, I doubt they're legal so you'd probably have to cart some Thargoid junk there and then flog it on the black-market to find out what the selling price there is.

Which raises another question; does EDDB's prices include black-market prices for illegal commodities?

I wonder if the station in the FX17 trailer teaser was Obsidian Orbital ..... you know, the one where the alarm said "evacuate!" :D

Op should probably add that to make billions in 2 days you would likely have to log into Solo and mode switch whilst forgeting about eating sleeping or any contact to the outside world for 48 hours. Even then it would be unlikely.

I've spent 2 hours over the past 2 days, made around 40 million with a 6 tonne capacity corrosive cargo rack, been doing regular mission haulage in between the Palin missions.

Payouts range from 5 mill up to 19 to collect thargoid samples, fortunately other missions also pay well out here, so plenty of opportunity's to vary your activities..

How anyone can mode switch and burn themselves out just to get billions is beyond me.

Note: to get the corrosion resistance racks you need to go to Palin Research Centre (i.e. have palin unlocked)

I have had the same thought. Thargoids interdict in the area surrounding Obsidian Orbital, but only attack if Thargoid tech/resin/bio-matter is being carried. As all these missions are based arround Obsidian Orbital, if would be fair to assume that it is a legitimate Thargoid target, and then these missions will cease

Hi guys,

these days I play scarcely... But as soon as 2.4 went live, I headed out to Merope and settled at Alcazars hope...

I have been to Maia Obsidian orbital numerous times since then, but NO MISSION SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT THARGOIDS ever spawns...

I am allied with the imperial faction, the controlling faction and friendly with the federal faction present in Maia...
I have unlocked grade 5 Palins blueprints a long time ago... Palin seems to be still very friendly with me...

What am I doing wrong? What should I do to get this mission? Is it in the mission board or do you get it via message (upper right comms panel in the ships GUI)?

I moved my entire fleet over there to Merope and now I regret it a lot - it has cost me quite a lot to transfer those ships :/

Thank you for help, Karlos
