lol Imperial Cutter

In my opinion such a large ship *should* "steer like cow", but it doesn't. Since the day the Cutter was added to the game I have seen no reason to fly anything else (except for short test drives of other ships, or for exploration trips in my Anaconda which is the only ship I own which is not a Cutter). But even my Cutters feel like sports cars to me. I felt the same way about the T9 before the Cutter was introduced. They are way too nimble. Big ships should *require* turrets for example.

Well I'm hoping the Panther Clipper is the same height and width as the mailslot minus 1cm.
And is also as long as a full large landing pad with the maneuverability to match.

Basically a flying rectangle.

My first smuggling journey in my Cutter was amusing. I thought I'd use boost... Dropped out of SC, and just used one boost straight away while lined up with the mailslot. I was finally stopped by the back wall of the station. :) I've never used boost while docking the Cutter since, lol.

Mind you, since then I've done a lot more flying in the Cutter and boost can also get you out of these situations. Those rear thrusters are very powerful. When I've been caught out by high G planets, turning nose up and boosting will recover pretty much any descent.

I can clearly see you never rode a cow!

I consider myself a seasoned, if not expert, cutter pilot.
I've loved the ship ever since I bought it. It was also my first engineer' ship.

The drift is your friend, and flying the cutter is a lot like flying in FA off. It's not as bad as other CMDRs name it seem. I've gone as far as strapping fixed weapons on the belly and the large points.

I also have a vette. I choose to not fly it. The mailslot to my heart only has room for the cutter

The Cutter and T9 are the only ones that feel like a proper big ship.
I love it.

First time I took my Cutter into a RES I was hugging them rocks constantly. [big grin]

I love the Cutter when in the mood for it.

* It's the best ship for trading bar none, engineered or not.
* It's mass is so high that even with G5 Dirty Thrusters maneuvering it is a challenge and an acquired taste.
* It's a great multi-role ship!
* It's surprisingly good as a tanked PvE Battle Ship Once adequately engineered. I personally prefer it to my Corvette if it's just between to two.
* Because of it's mass, it holds a boost for a looong time. I hated that at first like most do, but now I just love it!

No DC on either of my Cutters. I like the challenge. It's like riding a supersonic bull!

This right here, feel exactly the same. I do not boost towards the station. Its not a good idea.

Got my Cutter today after finishing the grind to Duke. Took it to see Felicity, and thought I would stop at Garay Terminal on the way out. Have a docking computer fitted, but though I would give my second run through the mail slot a go by myself. Lined up, concentrating on being centered in the slot, start entering, and next thing, Trespass warning... Doh, forgot to request docking I was that fixated on going in manually... For a big ship, it sure can flip and bounce back out the mail slot quickly.. :D Second attempt went without a hitch. Then I get to Quent, to engineer my power plant.. Decide again to manually land. Ease the big girl in, get lined up, get centred, and zero the throttle, and boom, the docking computer cuts in and start to take off again... Heart goes back into mouth, as I hit the throttle to take over again. Docking computer is now disabled...

I have a docking computer on mine. Not sure why, but I have trouble docking really long ships. I drift back and forward, side to side, nose up or down, and it still takes five minutes for it to take. On the other hand, wider stubby ships I have no problem with. For example, zero issues docking my Type 9. But my Anaconda, Beluga, and Cutter all have docking computers on them.

I just use the belly flop technique on all my ships (possibly combined with a nose dive depending on whether I judged the speed correctly :) ). I use full speed towards the mailslot, then slow down to 50% passing through (i.e. right in the middle of the blue part of the throttle). Then I just take a direct line to the pad. I throttle back to zero when the nose of the ship is just passing the edge of the pad (probably a bit before, actually). If you thrust down into the pad, it will pretty much stop you dead as soon as you get there (use the nose if you have too much forward momentum).

I just bought my first Cutter last night and went to visit Felicity so only some mild engineering on a not so bad equipment I'd say (even if it's not top notch yet, such as 8D thrusters) and I must say it's not as bad as I was afraid of after reading this thread yesterday !
Well, it takes some caution at first of course... The kind of caution I lacked when I boosted toward the mailslot like I usually do (I've been flying my Courier for the past week or so... a bit different :)) and went through it at 200m/s with a face like that : :O almost screaming "NOOOO" and desperately trying to find the landing gear button... But I didn't touch anything and made it safely to my pad eventually.
I never used the landing gear as a braking device before but it works pretty well !
I already feel I'll love this beast !

+1 Rep for the vid XD

What's this about a Cutter exclusive decal?

That's just a throwaway joke about the Cutter's forward Thrusters being totally unable to stop the Ship from speed in any reasonable time or Distance ;)
Hence the SpaceBalls reference : We brake for nobody :D
