EDSM Badges - how long have they been a thing?

I just checked my email and I have a notification from EDSM that I earned two badges!!

And then I checked my public EDSM profile and I have several more... most are celebrating achievements I have accomplished a while back but I really have never had one of those emails before OR noticed badges on my profile???

Yar, but while none of the badges I do have are incorrect there are many I don't have that I should.

I guess all this is worked out from our logs but why therefore do I not have some of them?

..... It must have been rolled out today, I've got a couple more emails so I guess their system is grinding through everyone's logs (yeah great image...) and pumping out the emails!


Oooh oooh, the "Cooper was here" badge! A nice reference to the film Interstellar!!

I think the EDSM badges are pretty neat. Honestly I wish the game itself had something similar. Maybe a Pilot's Federation medal cabinet for each commander, where pilot's could get medals (achievements really) for various milestones just like EDSM is doing. Maybe even let us display like ten or so of our medals on our flight suits too. Like how you could earn medals and stuff in the old Microprose simulator games like Gunship and Airborne Ranger. That would be a pretty sweet progression mechanic for the game.

EDSM runs though your records, triggered by activity, and hands out the rewards. See the EDSM thread.

It's more love and recognition than Frontier gives us.

Settings---> Send badges e-mail notification?---> off---> press update button---> done
