Rinsing Palin alien tech missions for 1/2 billion in 2 days.

Half a billion: Mission payout is around 5-25 Million so half a billion is between 20-100 mission runs, seems feasible in 2 days especially if collecting more than the minimum amounts - though after 2 days you will probably have had enough (then again, peeps around here seem to go for grinds).

Mission FAQ in sig (linky).

Karlos check your inbox, you might have a mission invite buried somewhere, you won't get another until you accept / decline the first. Otherwise the most you should need to do is jump out of Maia and back.

That's nothing special really. I'd stick with these space-trucking long range passenger missions - similar (if not larger) money, but you can do it AFK most of the time.

When you get to hip 17225 gather 10 alien resin, 4 tech samples, 4 bio matter.

What do I have to do to get that alien things?
Get into one of the bases?*
Kill/destroy something Tharogid?**

Collecting alien items sounds like fun, but I don't want to do things I consider "not appropriate in inter-sentient-species relations".

No, I'm not a Thargoid worshiper or hugger or apologist, I just think making something hostile more hostile is not a good idea.

*) trespassing
**) destruction of property, murder

Check the first pic in my post #16

A new type of crashed thargoid ship was discovered, the crash site has everything you need.

*) No trespassing inside bases required (well, depends what you call inside, and depends on Thargoid understanding of property law.
**) No, just scooping
***) You forgot about stealing - very probably stealing. (Though it isn't marked as stolen, so maybe not)
****) and Smuggling - the goods are illegal (in an anarchy!). But then again Palin asked for them. Should he be arrested?

That's the Thargoid Scout crash site, isn't it?
Good, wanted to go sightseeing there anyway :)

No fence or door, no trespassing.

Good, I like "easy".

No, not stealing. It's recovering abandoned things. Any sentient being will understand that.

I don't care about the jurisdiction of any station or faction that doesn't care about my safety.

Hi guys,

these days I play scarcely... But as soon as 2.4 went live, I headed out to Merope and settled at Alcazars hope...

I have been to Maia Obsidian orbital numerous times since then, but NO MISSION SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT THARGOIDS ever spawns...

I am allied with the imperial faction, the controlling faction and friendly with the federal faction present in Maia...
I have unlocked grade 5 Palins blueprints a long time ago... Palin seems to be still very friendly with me...

What am I doing wrong? What should I do to get this mission? Is it in the mission board or do you get it via message (upper right comms panel in the ships GUI)?

I moved my entire fleet over there to Merope and now I regret it a lot - it has cost me quite a lot to transfer those ships :/

Thank you for help, Karlos

They are spawned at random. Whether anything else is a factor, I don't know. They just pop up on your message screen. Check in your Options that incoming messages are not switched off (not sure if the missions messages can be, but it is as well to check.) Having NPC messages off might affect the spawning, who knows?

Also, pick up other missions meanwhile, even data delivery ... and see what happens ... with time the RNG should work in your favor as you go back and forth to Obsidian.

If Palin is such a genius, why can he not make a corrosion-resistant cargo rack with a capacity greater than 2 tons?

I could have so much fun with 100 tons of Toxic Waste, but nooooo.....

So this is still a thing?
Maybe I'll grind some more credit with it again - since wasting time ranking up from Chief Petty Officer to Ensign to buy a gunship made me about minus10M credits ( grinding rank is lamest waste of time and effort in this game! not to mention expensive ) then of course I got and fitted said gunship so I'm now down to my last 200M credits.

One question though. Is it still mating season for Belugas in the Maia system ?

It's great that the attention for "casuals seeking money" is directed at these Palin missions.

I'll keep making far more money elsewhere and hopefully it won't be touched.

No way to make 1b in a day or two unless you're glued to the game for 12 hours a day/lucky with generating the best missions (4x materials pay around 20 million) but if you wanna try:

Fit out a conda/cutter/T9 with as many CR racks as you can.
Go to crashed scout ship
Fill up with alien cargo (Bio matter>Tech>resin - I advise a mixture of all as the frequency of Palins missions are predictably in reverse order, i.e resin is requested more often than bio matter).
Go to Obsidian Orbital and decline mission, board hop then re-dock until you get the mission materials you have in your hold.
Rinse & repeat

As already stated it pays well but is super frustrating having to re-dock and wears thin very quick, especially playing 'dodge the beluga' side game. It could have just been my luck but I attracted more hyperdictions with a hold full of thargoid materials then when running empty. You will also attract the attention of many pirates on most runs. It's possible to do without standard racks but risky. I managed 16 ton standard rack run but my canopy was blown and had to do multiple repairs to modules en-route. The re-buy in conda/cutter is not worth the risk imo and regardless, I make just as much with bulk passenger missions out of Alcazars hope, even with the lowered payouts and for a lot less hassle.

NERF INBOUND

Possibly but I'd like to think not given it is a well balanced risk vs reward mission type. Get caught and scanned by thargoids carrying their materials and you're in for some pain. I don't think the intention was to haul multiple items BEFORE getting the mission though but then that could be said of any 'needs' mission.

Do I need to be friendly with Palin and have him unlocked in order to complete this mission, or can I just roll up with a light freighter and go?

Yeah the balance is fine, not excessive, and it encourages people to head to the Pleiades. One thing is for sure, it's not going to last forever, definitely a temporary thing that is part of the story line.

You can roll up in a freighter, major down side is your cargo will wreck your ship if you don't have Palins Corrosive racks installed.
