Rinsing Palin alien tech missions for 1/2 billion in 2 days.

You can but it is ill advised. You need corrosion resistant cargo racks which are only cable of carrying 2t and only available from Prof Palin. You can use standard racks but the materials will melt your modules and make it increasingly difficult to complete the journey. Its possible but risky. EDIT: Beaten to it :)

No way to make 1b in a day or two unless you're glued to the game for 12 hours a day/lucky with generating the best missions (4x materials pay around 20 million) but if you wanna try:

Fit out a conda/cutter/T9 with as many CR racks as you can.
Go to crashed scout ship
Fill up with alien cargo (Bio matter>Tech>resin - I advise a mixture of all as the frequency of Palins missions are predictably in reverse order, i.e resin is requested more often than bio matter).
Go to Obsidian Orbital and decline mission, board hop then re-dock until you get the mission materials you have in your hold.
Rinse & repeat

As already stated it pays well but is super frustrating having to re-dock and wears thin very quick, especially playing 'dodge the beluga' side game. It could have just been my luck but I attracted more hyperdictions with a hold full of thargoid materials then when running empty. You will also attract the attention of many pirates on most runs. It's possible to do without standard racks but risky. I managed 16 ton standard rack run but my canopy was blown and had to do multiple repairs to modules en-route. The re-buy in conda/cutter is not worth the risk imo and regardless, I make just as much with bulk passenger missions out of Alcazars hope, even with the lowered payouts and for a lot less hassle.

You might find using a small, fast, agile ship to be better suited to this. I use an engineered type-6. I only accept the 3-4 tonne missions only, pop over to the system, collect the cargo and come back. If the mission isn't the one I like I mode swap, zoom out of the mail slot, do a quick FA off flip and zoom back in again. The type-6 is so small and agile that it can eaily squeeze past any beluga. Can do many more missions that way and bump the Cr/hr up as a result.

I spent several days running these missions in an iCourier with an 8t cargo rack and a 2A AFMU. No problems at all.
Didn't even lose my canopy although a 1A life-support system will give you heaps of time to get the job done.

The biggest "issue" is that you really need to concentrate on completing the missions and not allow yourself to get sidetracked by pirates.

Main thing is not to use a ship filled with lightweight mod's so the integrity is already marginal.
Long as you use a fairly tough ship, anything from a Cobra upwards can easily handle these missions.

Assuming you're collecting the Thargoid tat from the crashed scout ship and not schlepping it half way across the Pleiades, of course.

For those who think that chasing Thargoid tech requires expensive toys and lots of effort to unlock CR cargo racks, I give you my latest weapon which is currently earning me Cr60m per hour...

2A FSD
1A Life Support
2A shield
2E cargo rack
1A fuel Scoop
1D AFMU

Total cost: Cr336,000
Earning potential: ~Cr60m/hr

But wait!
No SRV?

Well, no.
Ain't nobody got time (or space) for deploying SRVs.

I started doing these runs over the weekend and have made almost 400M credits so far after about 18 hours of game time. Another benefit - I am tycoon in trading rank and went from 20% to 82% toward Elite rank!! I only have 8T of corrosive cargo holds, no Thargoid interdictions yet, only NPC pirates. I'm using an A-rated cutter so no worries there :)

So, peripherally related to this: the alien resin, tech samples, etc; all have a "galactic average" value of roughly half a million credits. But everywhere I've taken them, the best offer is closer to 20,000cr. So, wheeeeeeeeere can I sell them for anything CLOSE to the galactic average? Or is it just a big fat lie?

Yeah.. as an added 'feature' of the galactic average price, if you decide to chuck an extra wee mission to Merope in there, remember that it's higher security, and the space cops will tage you for quarter of a million credits for carrying Thargoid stuff.. :D

not such an annoyance when you can make it back so quickly, so hey ho.

Op should probably add that to make billions in 2 days you would likely have to log into Solo and mode switch whilst forgeting about eating sleeping or any contact to the outside world for 48 hours. Even then it would be unlikely.

I've spent 2 hours over the past 2 days, made around 40 million with a 6 tonne capacity corrosive cargo rack, been doing regular mission haulage in between the Palin missions.

Payouts range from 5 mill up to 19 to collect thargoid samples, fortunately other missions also pay well out here, so plenty of opportunity's to vary your activities..

How anyone can mode switch and burn themselves out just to get billions is beyond me.

Hey Driver :)

It's was just half a billion not 2 my friend.

I filled up the with 10-12 resin, and 8 of the other two items. Then sold them all in Maia over the next hour.

Each trip was netting 60-80 million.

So 140 Million in three hours, 280 in six etc.

I did play most of the day though, on both occasions.

I found it to be quite a decent mission type. Met loads of players, travelled shield less so I got killed twice, had to kill a CMDR for the first time.

Collect resources from a planet fairly close by and sell them for research, learned about AFMU and how the damage worked, had to rush to repair, interdicted by Aliens and pirates, etc...

Best

Half a billion: Mission payout is around 5-25 Million so half a billion is between 20-100 mission runs, seems feasible in 2 days especially if collecting more than the minimum amounts - though after 2 days you will probably have had enough (then again, peeps around here seem to go for grinds).

Mission FAQ in sig (linky).

Karlos check your inbox, you might have a mission invite buried somewhere, you won't get another until you accept / decline the first. Otherwise the most you should need to do is jump out of Maia and back.

Tah! You guys aren't even trying. Take a conda with 8 CRCRs (16t cargo)... You'll make a lot more each run... To get less hassle on the way back, don't 'accept' the mission until your about to dock. It will save you getting interdicted my mission related npc's (although not by the regular opportunistic npc's). I've been stacking up my new alt account (on 700mil now after 4 days from scratch, well 1000 cr - you know what I mean). Btw, you get trade rank too! My new account is half way through Tycoon already :p good chance I'll hit elite tomorrow.
