Quick update in 30 minutes

Yeah because you say so. Quit your pointless moaning for once.
It's obviously more important for those in game to get a time critical warning.
If you spend the next 30 minutes pondering that you just might understand. Probably not.

Where do I say that notifying players in game isn't important?
Also, is there any need to be insulting?
I'm as entitled to voice my opinion on here as anyone else is.

Lets see - a post an a public forum announcing server downtime..... "is not a public announcement of server downtime" Hmmmmm.

As I pointed out - it is a post on page 3 of a particular support issue. Why on earth would the rest of us think to look there for a server downtime announcement?! It should be in News. Or Patches. As it's own thread. Is that really so hard? Is this really that unreasonable a request?

Perhaps the best communication method is an in game announcement then..... Oh wait.....

Ayy, this patch works.

Bandwidth is not throttled to 8-10k anymore and the whole mission board loads in a few secs., plenty of missions.

good work.

i don´t think they have to make forum announcement for updates that takes less than a minute.
this was a very fast update :)

The forum should be first, with details of what the update is for.
Followed by in game notification for those who don't visit the forum.

I beg to differ sir it's a game it's information about the game a lot of people don't even look at the forum.

Eh? While I'm loving the mission board changes, loving them, it loads about 5 times slower than before. I'm not complaining, just saying I'm surprised you notice it faster. wth?

Well I immediately have seen various higher level material spawning missions so I call this update a good 'un!

Yes. If they gave me the important information of when the servers would be back up again, I wouldn't even have come to the forums to look for the information (which doesn't exist).

Regular forum users are 0.28% of the players playing Elite.

Hence the best way to announce a downtime is in game.
AFTER that, you can go to forums and seek out details.

In this case it's merely a server restart, rather than proper update.

That was done nearly two days ago, is that what you mean?

Does anyone know what the purpose is of today's update?

Edit: Oh! I see what you mean, it IS loading faster now, after the restart. A lot faster. Yay.

o7 Fox.
At least on PS4, since Wednesday they're not as slow as before. Can actually load more passenger boards fully, still below 50% tho

Today's update is for improving the mission generator and giving equally good boards to all CMDRs, check Ian's link a few comments back

Interesting. You are describing exactly what I did. Shame the advice didn't work. As I already pointed out, if the message in-game gave the two important bits of information (time down, and time up again), then I wouldn't have bothered looking for something that clearly doesn't exist...
