Quick update in 30 minutes

Yeh my bad, I just logged in and the mission board is loading superfast now. Good job FD. That must have been cos of the restart. Cheers bro!

Is it me, or are there many more passenger mission types available that were very rare before (chief scientist, head of state, celebrity)?

The chief scientist one I see for the first time. Hunted by scanning ships, nice :D

Maybe they should just do parallel information multi-threading and post on the forum the same time the message in game gets broadcast?

Since the community manager is not responsible for patching and restarting the server... No, that would be stupid.

How about when i get the message in game, i click to go to the forums and i see something official posted just 2 minutes before the in game message? That must be really hard right whitey?

See above.

Do both. How long does it take to post to the forum?

I think the server guys have different and more important stuff to do than posting on the forums.

Was this a mission board update?
I noticed that some of the regular missions (not Passenger) are further away, (hundreds of LY instead of upto 50 LY)

Yes, yesterday morning, todays restart was for technical reasons. Teh updates are good, higher ranked missions etc, longer distance (though I haven't seen them yet, glad you have), mo rare mats. Good job, even if they did take their time. ;)

Yeh, honestly, yesterday morning uk time, the missions were fixed, I farmed a load of elite missions for mats (EFC, CIF, BCs) out of Daedalus last night. :)

Ah, I don't think I checked the boards yesterday, I was mat gathering, bloody anarchy systems were not spawning conductive ceramics so in the end I went to Dav's hope.

Guess what I just saw at Alcazar's hope? Yep, mission with cc's!

:x

Since posting on the forums would've taken longer than the actual server restart this whole thread seems pointless...

If i ve made this comment i would immediately been told off by a mod, that they know what they have to do and they dont need any help doing it ;)

You wouldn't have made this comment though ;)

On a serious note the answer to this is: Ofc not, but not for the reason you think. In all the forums i participate for many many years, i have never commented to some other person's thread and state that it is or seems pointless. I never mind others doing it but for me, it is totally disrespectful to a fellow commander (person).

I'm betting they could have just abruptly switched the servers off for a second to do the update, and everyone would have just thought it was the usual weekend server meltdown. :p

They'd be back up before anyone would have posted anything.

And they'd be far less whining about updates and lack of news to read about it. Lol

Harvey, the 3-legged server hamster got one of his remaining legs caught in his wheel and was going thump-thump-thump. They had to power down and reach in there to get him unstuck. It happens once in a while, but Harvey does not want a prosthetic limb, so we'll have this from time to time.

Well I didn't meant to say that creating this thread was pointless, but the discussion about the lack of forum notification was rather pointless. As said above, writing it would've taken more time than the actual restart... I can't find anything "totally disrespectful" about that.
