Fleet Carrier concept from the artbook?

I recently revisited the official artbook and this caught my eye:

Could this be a concept art for the Fleet Carrier?

I love this carrier, I think it works tbh. However, I also think it was an idea they put in the bin along with some of the other cool stuff mentioned in the DDF. So expect to see something very different. :)

I as hoping for a battlestar galactica type, with docking slots on both sides, inward at front, outwards at hack

My pleasure! Lots of good stuff in there.

There is and ... with hindsight ... lots of hints of what was to come .... and still more.

That 'fleet' ship might one day be introduced to carry small ships and make them useful again, such as Sidewinder and Eagle.

I have the feeling it'll look like an square outpost ship like rather than a beautiful ship.

There is a lot of concept art that could be borrow from here

Nah, for one it has wings. Why would a ship too big to fly need wings? For another, look at the glass on the Cockpit. Its way too small to hold even an Anaconda, let alone be a carrier.

I think a Federal Carrier would look like a serrated arrowhead.
I think the Imperial Carrier would be a curvy slab with a whale shark mouth and smaller, faster-spinning dorsal ring.
In either case I think they'd be smaller capital ships, .7km-1.2km long.
Smaller capital ships would be great.

I think that design is for a fighter-carrier, not a fleet-carrier. It would date from a time before they realised that two wings of four carriers each holding ten fighters, meeting each other on the field of combat, would be way, way more ships in one instance than the game architecture could comfortably handle.

That concept art looks like a semi-retro carrier (with a Boeing cockpit), but they said at Frontier Expo that they didn't yet design the Fleet Carrier. I hope it will be massive like 6 kilometers long.
