You got off lightly!

You use them mine materials for engineers, scavenge cargo from wrecks and perform missions.
If you do end up stuck somewhere unable to reach your ship, remember to Log out of the game completely and load up the NON horizons version of the game from the launcher .. you'll be safely back in your ship in high orbit of the planet you were on.

How many times did you randomly spin out for absolutely no reason?
Turn off 'Drive Assist'. It becomes alot easier to drive. Go figure.
For me it's utterly uncontrollable with assist on. Kinda annoying how it defaults back to it all the time :/
There is a setting in your driving options that allows you to change that. I always start with FA Off now that I found that option.

Hill climbing (vertical) is my favorite thing to do with the SRV.
You look at a vertical cliff 300 ft high and think "Nobody is going to get up there", then you try it at do it. It feels amazing.
Crater jumping is also quite fun.

I like assist on
Keyboard/mouse here, just can't do it at all. ..spin outs every time. I gave up when trying to position for scooping back into the ship, absolute nightmare

Yeah, drive assist on is garbage. Also, change the throttle from "toggle" to "hold". I still spin and roll my way to my to my destination half the time.
