Hostile, at Last?

I use a nearby system for a steady source of BH revenue and regularly farm the HAZRES sites.

I've got quite a few NPC kills over the time I've played, but only these last few days has a faction turned hostile to me to the point that systems and stations are now actively hostile (and labeled as such), refusing landing rights and shooting at me.

It seems as if there has been a change in the behavior that has made this "hostile" behavior more common.

Has anybody observed this, or is that I "crossed a line" that I just hadn't gone over before?

It's not a hindrance, just won't travel to those locales any more. BTW, if they didn't have such an active criminal population, I wouldn't shoot them.

I noticed that I became unfriendly with a faction in the current CG system. I don' t know if it was due to a couple of small local bounties I picked up or killing their faction members (which I would have done if they had a bounty) - however, this has never happened to me before in similar CGs. The only time I've become unfriendly with a faction before was when I was doing missions against them.

This hostile thingy is introduced with recent patches...now even in cz killing ships you can downgrade your rep with factions...Its all logical now.

That sounds good to me.
On the other hand.. how are you supposed to improve your rep if they don't even let you dock?

Yes, killing wanted pirates will quickly make you enemies with their gang now.
If they actually control stations - you'll be in trouble there ;)

Good to know, will have to keep a list of hostile factions so I don't accept missions that I can't finish.

AFAIK, minor faction rep stays, I am still allied w/ factions that I haven't interacted with for months. So maybe hostile forever? That's OK, it's a big Bubble and won't stop me from killing their criminal spawn.

I've done it once or twice, but it is way to easy to get out of "hostile". It lasts barely a day before they are merely unhappy with me. Just quietly, "hostile" is what should happen to those killing innocent CMDR ships, and it should last a month. Suspending docking rights would make it far more interesting for those wanting to take innocent CMDR's out. Especially if they are marked Hostile for ALL non pirate factions in a system, and all major factions in a system - thus expanding the Hostile status bubble wide.

Z...

I had a pretty large mini-bubble of hostile factions recently, I just kept moving a couple systems over and doing it again.

It's all senseless now but at least it makes sense.

Becoming hostile with a faction is an achievement that can be harder to reach than becoming allied. It should mean something more than just being banned from docking with a station. These factions should be sending assassins to get you, even well outside their space. If you are spotted by a member of a faction you are hostile with and they survive long enough to get a message out, things should start getting real interesting very quickly.

Recommend moving to another home system, some distance away, and let things cool off to unfriendly.

This wasn't my home system, so I can still go home again. So hostile is transient and ally is forever it seems. Makes me feel of warm kittens, wait, I'm allergic to cats!

As the saying goes, "don't soil where you eat".

Prefer the original days when being hostile meant that any ships or wing leaders belonging to the faction would start red and aggressive. Made life interesting when hunting in RES. But as with most things FD got soft.
