idk man.. Fdev-love.

I respect Fdev.
I respect the elite community.

I respect the endurance of this finely crafted, piece of art that is "Elite Dangerous"™

I respect anyone who can and will appreciate this fine work for all it truly has to offer.

I intended on ranting about some petty discontent .

(Un)fortuneatly,,, upon writing this I have realized that no such post is neccesary...

For elite is most likely the best thing that has ever happened to me.

May be a dumb question but can one send the dev team pizza ? That would be pretty awesome :D

They're just like any other business. You can look up the address of their offices and send them whatever you want. That's no guarantee that they're happy to be sent anything, but the ability is there.

Great game that has kept me entertained for thousands of hours. Yeah, it has it is issues, but doesn't stop me playing.

But remember guys, there's no such thing as white knights.

And you're almost right. They are practically an invention by those who want to be critical without opposition. Even the most rabid fan can be critical of the game. I've been called a white knight on several occasions, but those people obviously have never read my criticisms of the game, because that wouldn't fit with their own interrnal narrative.

For me respect is somthing your earn, I respect FD as far as they have made a great game, but that repect is more to the boys and girls in the trenchs, the higher ups dont have it. I do respect Mr B tho, without him we wouldnt have had Elite let alone its prequals.

There are a few people I hold above others here in the community as I respect the time and effort they put in to the things they do.

The game is very far from being the best thing that has ever happend to me though, its just a game. Elite was a great game but Ive played better, ED is a great game and as of yet there isnt a space ship game that I know off that comes close to it, I still love the X games but I would play ED over them.

I do respect that they belive or have faith in what they are doing even if the seeds of discontent are forever growing, I lost faith in FD somtime back, or I stopped beliving them would be nearer the truth, as said I love the game and enjoy playing it and if or when somthing that gives me what ED gives as in what I want from a space game and then some, I'll be playing that.

I play ED out of enjoyment not blind faith.

Elite: Dangerous occupies the time I have nothing else to do in a gentle and unobtrusive manner.

While it has it's flaws, that's all I do wish from a game.

And that makes me happy with it! [heart]

Sure there is.

The people who praise the game have their priorities and perspective in the right place. It's the ones who have criticisms about the game or the way it's being developed who's perspective are skewed.

Everyone has the right to express their opinion, and some opinions are more popular than others. But there are no right and wrong opinions.

For some Elite rocks, for others it stinks, and for most it's somewhere in between :-D

And for some opinions oscillates like a pulsar, LOL. Bugs introduced - stinks. Bugs fixed - rocks! I've been accused both of being a White Knight and whatever the opposite is. Wrong and wrong. In this two party system, I identify myself as an Independent.

All in all, when the good, bad, and ugly are averaged together, I feel "favorably" toward Elite :D

ps - totally agree with your post, just using it as a springboard.

.... someone who states that a game is the best thing that has ever happened to him in his life clearly has the proper priorities and perspective. And is TOTALLY not a white knight. Because those simply don't exist.
Don't be so sure. The original Elite was just a game, but probably WAS the best thing that ever happened to me. For a start if was a fantastic game and kept me entertained for a very long time. More importantly though, it opened my eyes to what computers (and programmers), were capable of. It played a huge part in my decision to change my planned career path. I am now a software developer.

I have a job I love and a very decent income. Enough to support my family and our various hobbies. I have this job to thank for meeting my wife (and thereby having kids :)). I like to fish, do a spot of archery, shoot and my main hobby is horse riding. We own two horses and rent land to keep them on. I do all these things at weekends and holidays because I work away from home. During the week I have only one hobby and that is ED.

I can trace the origins of all this back to me playing '84 Elite. If it had not existed I would of had a completely different life. Not necessarily a worse one. Who knows, maybe a more successful one buy some measures, but I don't think it would have been a better one. I love the life I have and would not want to change it (except to have a bit more disposable income on occasions;)). I think I can honestly say that that 'game' was the best thing ever to happen to me.

Well you ARE the definition of white knight anyways...

I must be getting old as threads like these where you profess your love for a game on a almost daily basis make no sense to me.
