Where do all the escape pods go?

Here I am doing Pew Pew to rank up for engineer unlock, I think I've got a few more hours to go before i'm 'Dangerous'

That said, after popping hundreds of ships, not one escape pod?

With the addition of search and rescue and my guilt over popping all these ships, I would of thought I could scoop up the victims and hand them in? I know some may sell as slaves but.. Oh and did this not happen in the original?? Scooping escape pods?

Hmm..

Thoughts?

At the point of destruction the CMDR teleports back to their last docked location or they have an escape pod. I think its a discontinuity in the game design that I've learnt to live with tbh it doesn't bother me that much but I do accept its there.

It will be nice in the future to have them implemented that way to introduce bounties for capturing alive criminals and brought them to justice like the search and rescue we have know. More gameplay, more immersion.

If i remember well, we got some Prison cells mentioned in one of the patch notes in 2.3 but didn't make it into the game. Where are they? Let's imagine some more gameplay around that, a really dedicated fully fledge bounty hunting career ;)

There are no escape pods. You think there's some magical technology that whisks you instantly back to the bubble after your ship is destroyed?

It's all a lie so low-paid mugs like us will risk our lives way out there in the black. Do you remember the first time your canopy burst, and the visor snapped down on your helmet? That's the last real thing to happen to you. Everything since then is a VR illusion, played out to placate you while you lie catatonic in your seat and the remains of your ship crumble around you. Desperately shutting off non-essential components to keep the illusion alive inside your visor as long as possible.

For all we know, the galaxy might be littered with stranded Cmdrs in disabled ships. It's almost like it's a game to some people..

:p

Yes, killing a ship should have a percentage chance of spawning an escape pod. Seems simple to add.

Agreed, ships exploding should release their crews escape pods trying to reach super cruise or planetary landings and thus safety.

This is something that I felt was missing, too.

There are no escape pods. We are all clones. When a clone is destroyed, they simply re-grow us at the last station we've checked in.
As long as there's cash on our accounts. It's a very lucrative business. :)

Is that why you should fly with re-buy? As in Re-Buy another clone?

But anyways, with search and rescue we should have a role of emergency rescue! - Cleaning up escape pods from combat zones :D

Heck I am just mightily impressed with the whole Escape Pod technology!

Not only do we have a small 1 cubic metre container that can fit any human, it also contains the fasted FSD drive known to humanity, complete with a life support system to keep even those whose FSD's malfunction alive indefinitely. And with the latest edition of the Life Pod, not only do it contain one (1) human, (1) super FSD, (1) Life Support System, it now has, at no additional cost to the consumer, the capability to hold up to 1,000 pieces or rock or other miscellaneous debris you find floating around in deep space. Just wish they would do something with the memory storage in the Pod. For some reason it will only retain ad-hoc and often incomplete recordings of data you happened to have come across. Pity they used it for that purpose instead of storing you bounties and exploration data - sigh.

It's like LOST - everyone dies. How do I know? Start "popping" clean NPC ships. You'll be wanted for MURDER, not attempted murder.

Now regarding all the escape pods at Thargoid attack sites... Perhaps capital ships have escape pods?

Hi Commander

If you have ever seen the film "MOON" with Sam Rockwell (excellent)...... well think on what happens once the worker is at the end of his contract ..... and just what happens in our Elite "escape" pods..... hmm they used the same system in the workers "sleep" pods on the "MOON"... they clamber in, nod off to sleep and are shot off back to good ole'Earth for a happy retirement.... err not exactly...................................................................................................
