Please suggest a video to sell the game

All three of Space Bear's No Time videos are awesome. I just used this link in a blog post (not published yet) as an example of how incredible an experience Elite: Dangerous is. Hoping for more sales! :)

SpaceBear's No Time series are among my favourite videos from the community. Not sure that it really showcases the game from the perspective of how it plays, but certainly shows the beauty of it.

Don't forget the CTRL ALT SPACE competition videos

and the winner...

Ghost Giraffe's Space Tourism series comes to mind. Not necessarily representative of a lot of gameplay, but it showcases aspects of the game that get lost in the grind.

Since Elite is on sale, I mentioned to a buddy that he should buy it. He asked me what kind of game it was and, sorry to say, I said, "space truck simulator" - but the thing is, I've had a lot of fun playing it. I'd like to send him a video link that gives a good overview of the game. Please suggest one.

ObsidianAnt's videos sold me on the game, but I'm first and foremost interested in the astronomy / exploration / "future spaceship simulator" side of ED. That's not to say that I don't like the other stuff, in fact I've spent more time running missions than anything, but I've no interest in games like Everspace.

Now Star Citizen, on the other hand, has me drooling, but that's a long way off and a gaming machine well out of my price range

Perfect! Thank you!

there's something at the heart of Isinona's videos that really captures (for me anyway) what it's like to play ED.

I think a big part of it is that he's not rushing, he's not grinding, he's not using god-like end-game gear or ships. I think he's doing what we all want to do - pick something simple but fun, and do it well. It's like he's an artist or something. And of course, he's really good at it.

I keep going back to this series, and in particular, this work of art ;

I like those too. Beautiful stuff.

Never ever try to sell Elite to your friend. Or any other person. There is only one way that any person will like the game. And it is not when he buy it because you suggest it to him.

Videos is a lie mostly. Not because this is not in the game. But because most of what he will see in such videos, he will never see in his own gameplay. Or he will see it only after 100+ hours. Will it worth it? Hell no.

Elite is a game that i whould suggest to buy for your enemy. Not because it is a bad game, but because it is a game that will "sheete" on him.

Please, think about your buddy. Is he really deserve all this pain?

while isinona is by far the best there is on yt about the game, i wouldn't use it as a recommendation as it will undoubtely lead to very wrong expectations.

How do you mean? I find his stuff to be the most grounded in reality while simultaneously showcasing the game at its best. What "wrong expectations" are you talking about?

Only sensible thing when buying any game is to watch loads of gameplay videos from different players. Especially Elite, since it can be played in many different ways.

Agreed! That's like asking the broad question - Are Sylvester Stallone's movies worth seeing?

One should check out a representative sample of his body of work to fully experience his entire acting range before any informed value judgement can be made...

For example, Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, R.....

Some good trailers over ED's history. imo, 2.3/PS4 trailer is the best overall representation.
