Winter Valkyrie -vs- the Perseus Gap

Have a Cutter with a 36LY jump range...

Perseus Gap and the Fallows think they're tough with that big ocean of Dead T-stars goin' on down the middle.

Well, I got a 18 Million rebuy that says different.

Hold my drink...

Welcome to my exploration journey up the Perseus Gap and beyond.
-Enjoy random videos made with amateur quality and questionable editing skills!
-Bask in the glory of my mediocre ability to take decent image captures!
-Return frequently to see if I get flattened in to a pancake between a blue giant and a black hole!

:D

On my way to the Fallows now, since I only have 29.95ly jump range I expect you will beat me, but just maybe we will bump into each other, I mean there's only 400 billion stars out there, right?

+1 for this journey log introduction! :)

Thanks Rudi! :)

It would be amazing to run in to another cmdr in the black expanse.
If you would like we can friend up and then keep tabs on where we are? I play in Mobius PVE most of the time, but once out in the deep it doesn't matter and i can switch to open :)

Best of luck on the trip! May you discover something wonderful

WINTER VALKYRIE // STARLOG: 600290390.f
-Staged departure from T-Tauri _ Course to California Nebula
-made touchdown @ Mic Turner Base for final system checks and extra palette of Jasmine Tea and Space Weed (Eh... the latter critical to combat the space madness of course)
-Set Course to Wolf-Rayet NSV 1056 as waypoint to NGC 7822 Nebula

This was a first for me personally:
Massive C-Star encounter. It was stunning and the singular flare eruption was non-stop and highly energetic. Mesmerizing to watch.

And Finally at the Wolf-Rayet.
These are my personal most favorite stellar phenomenon. Rare, hard-to spot and gorgeous. It will be interesting to see if these get a graphic overhaul in Q1 2018 with 'Beyond'

First of all, as a fellow lover and connoisseur of trance, let me say I LOVE YOUR SOUND TRACK. Secondly, beautiful video, beautiful ship, good luck, and godspeed.

Thanks Rudi! :)

I mostly play in open, out in the black exclusively in open, my forum name is my in game name and I am happy to friend up.

As for discovering something wonderful, I am pleased to announce I have, well maybe not wonderful to everyone but amazing nonetheless. I stopped at a small nebula on the way to the Fallows to see if I could find life, aka Fungal Cones which as far as we know occur exclusively in Nebula, and I did indeed find them, but on the same body, and I think for the first time recorded, I also found Brain Trees, on the same body! And if there are Brain Trees there it also mean Guardian Ruins somewhere nearby. So I think that counts as wonderful.

I trust you have as much luck in your journey.

Hi Both

I have sent friend requests to you both in game, I am currently on a(nother) trip out to the Perseus Arm (its only my 4th attempt.... See other posts for previous attempts). I am just reaching the Perseus Transit right now with a plan to head out to The Orion Shallows and Tenebris. It would be great to see some friendly icons on the galactic map while i'm out here in the black (I play in open this far from the bubble)

Safe travels 07

#Never sleep in a Neutron Star System....

DAG NAMMIT!!!, I did it again! came in too heavy on a planetary landing after failing to switch the shields back on.

Back to the bubble for me.

I swear I am the most clumsy, ham fisted explorer in the galaxy. There should be a super super persistent persistence award for klutzes like me, same trip, 4 times with ZERO cartographic data returned. On the upside I did find a new unclaimed Carbon star deep in the Neutron/White Dwarf field below the Perseus Transit.

Ok kids... now for the exciting part...

Last night I upgraded to a 8GB GTX 1080 :D

Needless to say, the first thing that I did was add another 3 modules to my ReShade pipeline in an attempt to bring the card to its knees. I failed and the card still managed to crank the game over @ around 40fps, despite my best efforts to kill it, LOL.

The end result is now the game looks like analog cinema and it's glorious!!!

Game is currently running in "Ultra" settings @ 5760x1080 (I run triple monitors but I crop my images down)

ReShade pipe has the following modules running:

-Chromatic Aberration
-Bloom
-Anamorphic Flares
-Film Grain
-Lens Distortion
-Luma Sharpen
-Panavision Color Grading
aaaand probably one or two other things I'm forgetting.

Results:

Expect all future screen shots and vids to be enhanced as such :D

I've had a longer than expected layover in this awesome system with the massive O-type star. It's been the perfect playground for me to tune my ReShade pipeline and really enjoy the new GTX 1080 :D

Snapped a few more pics before I decide to head on out:

The system itself. Note the two black holes as well! What a find this place was. Previously discovered... but who cares! I've loved exploring this place.

These two gas giants are insanely close. If you fly between them the exclusion zones are almost within spitting distance of each other. I'm sure in a few million years these orbits will degenerate and this dance will end spectacularly. What a sight that would be if we could observe such phenomena in Elite!

Main sequence Star. Highly energetic. Lots of flare activity!

Finally arrived at NGC 7822.
