Need inspiration/motivation...

So I finally made the trip to Colonia to see what's out there and because I want to have that under my belt as an achievement.

Now I'm stuck. I cannot motivate myself to start the game because I want to go back to the bubble, to see some of the other stuff, take part in CGs again yet to do that I need to spend at least five boring hours just jump/scoop/jump, and the thought of that depresses me. I really want to just skip those 5 hours somehow.

Even getting first discovery on most of the suns on the way back, and possibly even hitting elite explorer at the end of the trip and all the money is not really motivating me. I'm actually dreading it. I've (stupidly perhaps) put myself so far away from where "the game" is (in my view at least) that I don't actually want to play the game anymore.

Can anyone suggest a way to make the trip back more inspiration/interesting/motivating?

HELP!

Do the self destruct thing. You’ll be back in the bubble instantly. Doesn’t really answer your question but it’s one possible solution and it’s what I did to avoid the journey back.

I completely understand your situation, having flown out there once in a slow Cobra IV, I just couldn't bring myself to the thoughts of the same flight back again. So I bought the Suicidewinder [blah] ..... but I never looked back, and actually flew there and back in a properly equipped and engineered AspX later.

The Cobra IV is still out there, should I decide to return one day to escape what is happening in the Bubble :D

Remember it's a game, designed for your enjoyment. There is no shame in the suicidewinder if it gives you renewed interest in everything that's going on back here ;)

I faced the same issue when I went out to Colonia. It's an interesting place but there's not a lot to do, and I barely survived the space madness on the outward journey.

I contemplated doing the Sidewinder rebuy thing, but in the end I decided not to cop out, and instead tried to make the journey back as interesting as possible. I did it in a Python instead of the Asp I'd been using, switching over the same engineered FSD, which meant my jump range was a little lower (about 32ly), but I figured it would be cool to get some pictures of another ship in front of things. I set myself a bunch of challenges for the journey - like "find the deepest ice canyon I can", "climb a mountain in the SRV", "locate volcanic sites", "take the coolest abstract photos I can with the camera suite" - and whenever I got bored of jump-honking, I'd take a detour and entertain myself trying to do some of this stuff. It took me a little longer, but it seemed a lot quicker than the outward trip, and I made a ton more money from the exploration scans.

Yeah, it's kind of sad that the prospect of a long journey through space is boring to some people who have posted saying exactly that.

There does seem to need to be more to find/do out there.

Some interesting ideax... not sure if I want to suicidwinder. Maybe I'll just try to make the trip back in low doses a few jumps a night.

5 HOURS TO COLONIA!?!? That's 22,000 light years away from the bubble!!

I made a 6,000 light year return trip to a point of interest totalling 12,000 light years. That alone took me over a week of playing 5-7 hours per day!!!

I say tough it out and fly back. Spend as much time as you can stand working your way back each night, then play something else. Once you get back, you can laugh about it.:p
