I am in the middle of a run to Hutton Orbital in the Alpha Centuri system. The distance takes an hour, I'm guessing. My ship topped out at 1867 C, before it started to slow at the mid way point. What's the highest speed you can remember achieving? My fastest prior to this, was 900 something.

I ran after the bus once. That was fast for me...
I believe that (as osser said) the upper limit is 2001C. This is supposed to be because David Braben and Ian Bell (who wrote the original Elite) are major fans of "2001: A Space Odyssey", which is also why the music played when using the Standard Docking Computer is "The Blue Danube Waltz", as this was the music played during the docking sequence in that film.

Yep, 2001 is the limit. But that takes a long time to reach. Only time I've done it is when I leave the game running over night...

If Chris Roberts worked on the original Elite, we'd still be waiting for it.
I think Razor5543 should be made to repent that sentence by being forced to park every small and medium sized ship at Hutton Orbital. Preferably starting from the Colonia region.
I accept that I made a mistake, was told I had made that mistake, and have corrected it. It was honestly made. I did not mean to cause any offense.
I would say that mentioning the I.B. word; would cause more offence, around here these days.
