Passenger mission experiment

Elite rank has only meaning you are willing to give it.
Its not some sort of universal e-peen.

And if you want it from my standpoint - I only consider combat rating true one (in spirit of original Elite).
And it all went downhill since dorks in Pilot's Federation allowed any of these "trader" and "explorer" riffraff to Founders world. "Ooooh I need a safe place to retire, these disgruntled passengers can come after me because ride was too rough" - truly pathetic ;)

@Dreamer1986

You need to get allied with the local faction handing out the missions to get the 20-40M payouts. Don't be lazy and expect millions. Long range missions are useless anyway as you get 8-12M missions of only 300-400ly so why bother with the long ones?

Stahp whining and do the grinding.

The passenger missions are unplayable right now. 400k for a 10k light year travel distance? No, thank you, catch a bus!

There still seems to be so much variation here. I regularly accept passenger missions at my ‘home’ station for 7 million to transport a sightseer to no more than 3 destinations, the furthest of which is usually around 250LY away. I gues YMMV.

I wish I could find that system, the one I ended up in requires 45 minutes of board flipping for half that payout. [knocked out]
I think board flipping on the way to be fixed - you won't be getting new boards nowhere as it was before.
I recommend just switching between solo/open - and then going to other station. This was way more productive for me.

Who cares about the Elite rank? Do you think that 400k for a 10k light year trip is an okay payout? Let me tell you.. no, it's not, its absurdly small, and this is the example of payouts I see right now.

Fly safe!

Your bias here is blinding you the fact that you are complaining about passenger mission rewards being too low in a thread where the OP shows that one can make a billion dollars in about two weeks (@ 2hrs/day) running passeneger missions exclusively.

I would hope that you just missed that completely, but I think that somehow you believe that both of these things can be true at the same time.

My current passenger route is paying on average 200m+ per trip, made 14.5billion profit in the last 30 days.

Awesome! Well done!

I'm still looking for a profitable passenger route, only finding short routes and not being able to stack many passengers for the same location. It seems there is a lot of variation in the mission goals and rewards, so I will continue searching for a profitable route. Just came back from a long mission (25K Ly), but it takes too much time and proportionally is very very low paid.

Go there - https://eddb.io/station
Sort by "Arrival Distance" in reverse. This will show stations which very far from entry point (and so missions there will pay most).
Then go find systems ~10-15Ly away, and go around there stations seeking missions to carry passengers to above far away station.
Collect enough to fill all cabins - then go and do the long run. You can be away from PC most of the time since on long supercruise unlikely anything will happen.
Then collect the profit.

Rinse and repeat.

This is what the salty "pvp" whiners wanted. A game that's "done" in a few hours.
Well, they have nerfed them a bit over the last year. Had you tried this right after passengers launched you'd been elite well within single digit hours.

I still don't get why Frontier insists on breaking the elite ranks by counting passengers towards trade or exploration. Elite used to be something that was supposed to take a lot of effort to reach, now it's just a another fast unlock.

Thanks for the tip: I will try this method, and see if I can make a bit more profitable my Human Cargo Business 😁

Play below the game's abilities to make it harder for yourself? Yeah, it's not quite that easy to fix. :)
Why its so hard, not sure if I understand? You said "elite supposed to take a lot of effort to reach", then don't take easy way out. Or don't complain that it makes game not enjoyable?

Or I am not mistaking that you are very concerned about how easily other people reached this rank? Not sure how this affects you though.

I would like to point out that the OP was able to achieve this thanks to earned knowledge. It took me hundreds of passenger missions to get to the point where I can just about make 25m/hour. That said, they should have scaled elite trade rank with payouts.

Nerf bat incoming....

I still can't understand why people post these things in here.
