Black Friday & Oculus Rift - Do you think it's worth waiting for to see if there are any discounts?

Hi,

What are peoples thoughts on Black Friday discounts and Oculus Rift?

After dithering about buying one for a while, I've finally decided I should go for it, esp after reading about the recent perm price drop down to £399. Do you think there will be any worthwhile discounts * or has the price been squeezed enough already?

I know I could just wait... It is only two weeks away for goodness sake but I'm one of those impulsive people who spend a year thinking about and researching something and then when they finally make a decision they want it NOW and can't buy it quick enough.

Thanks.

* Not really bothered about bundled games as I'm really only interested in ED & IL2 BOS so it would only really be a price reduction that I'm interested in.

If you are not in a hurry to snap one up, then why not wait, you maybe pleasantly be surprised or disappointed?

I can't imagine there would be a significant discount - perhaps 10% or so. They're already significantly reduced since they were released.. although they have lost the 'premium product' shine I suppose. Now some AR headsets.. that would make for interesting discounts..

More likely they will have significant discounts on games, and perhaps the extra sensor or so.

A graphics card is what I'll be looking out for on Black Friday. I wouldn't mind slipping in a nice fast GTX 1080 :)

A graphics card. What a good idea. I've got a 970 so will keep my eye out for a 1070. I can't afford a 1080 as that's stoopit money (on top of a Rift).

$400 is the current price, right? I can't see them cutting much further into that when one remembers that the headset alone was $800 with an Xbox controller.

Keep and on the GTX 1070 ti as well... You can often find them for the same price as the plain 1070 and with about 10% more performance that makes them a real bargain.

I think that depends o a lot on whether Windows MR picks up any sales momentum... I don't think they can go too much lower but you never know.

Yeah definitely something to look out for.. I get the impression Nvidia will be wanting to off load much of there pascal stock in the run up to volta which will perhaps come mid 2018. As a value proposition the 1080 seems like an awesome card, one of those should last for years. THe only downer with the cards is the cost of a gsync monitor.

Hopefully we will start seeing some custom AMD Vega cards soon.. It might not be a 1080 killer but with performance in the same ball park and a freesync monitor.. something to consider.
