Hi all, feel like it's been ages since my last submission. Anyway, here's one I've just found:

All systems were added, thank you for your contributions!

Woah, it has been a long time since I was last here!
About time I posted those pris-mets I found from my 2nd Formidine rift trip, & many since then :), I'll see if I can do that tonight [edit] nope! Took me ages to find & title the scrn shots, most of which I want to retake as I discovered them & want to see if I got named on them ;)

All added to the list, thank you!

I've only just noticed that 2MASS J02350527+6128098 isn't showing up on my list ......
Oh wait, it is in the main list, just the source isn't shown. I noticed that for some others too actually, has this feature been dropped for later entries? (I've noticed some later ones are assigned ;))

[update] Hmm, dozens of scrnshots to sort out! It's going to take me a little while longer yet!
Slowly getting there, I've got 53 to report! :) (21 rdy to u/l)

Turns out I 'only' have 50 to report ;), discoveries made on my 2 trips to the Formidine Rift from late December last year to April this year.
At the time I didn't think they'd be much use beyond building up the database, but seeing as the area could end up being an emigration point at, least some of my nearby pres-met discoveries could be useful! :) (not likely though I think).

Right, hopefully they're all in there & with no errors - nope! Grrr... fixed
Took hrs again to do all this :p, I think in future I will only actively seek pris-mets in/near the bubble & other inhabited areas.

Good to hear from ya :), but I was more after a response from those that can add my found pris-mets to the database ;).
And I'm only looking for recording pris-mets near inhabited areas now too.

Gentlemen,

Greetings to everybody and apologies for my long absence in this thread.

Assimilator1, that's an impressive array of findings!

The situation now has changed significantly. The advances in crowdsourcing made it possible to automatically send the information about celestial bodies to eddn (and edsm & eddb as a result). So, eddb now has data on more pristine metallic rings than my tool does, even within the bubble.

Sadly, the era of explorers bringing data for everyone's enrichment is coming to an end.

I am now working on a system that would periodically get the data from eddb and update our PrisMet database.

There's still a question of scouting the rings in inhabited systems for resource extraction sites, and adding pictures. Pictures, of course, are much less important now since we don't need proof for data that comes from eddb. So, it's mainly RES now.

Yes...
EDDB is still missing some of the bodies in systems that are pre-scanned, but bodies with metallic rings seem have been a priority and a lot of them are entered (sometimes the only entry for the system). RES data is still important though, I only mine there now that I can find good asteroids repeatedly. Also more exciting than the main ring.

The curated-nature of Victic's list is still very nice: including information about stations and RES, as well as best close-by place to sell minerals. EDDB is very difficult to cross-search for information ie. systems with High Tech stations and systems with mining locations. I can't quite imagine how complex a search for a combination of systems with what you want and ANOTHER near-system with what you are also looking for would be.
Actually, I often don't sell in the same system I mine in now, since prices swing so much with economic states of the system factions.

I appreciate the Pristines tool, and am happy to have contributed to it through this forum. [yesnod]

If anyone wants a REAL(big) project, I'm currently mapping RES, finding good asteroids and recording what direction and how far they are from the center. [big grin] Ex: there's a 39% painite rock 2km from the center of the Haz RES at HIP 16607, roughly behind you when you're facing the planet.

Hi Vic, yea I found a few ;), as I hinted to Drowner, that'll probably be my last big data flush, the main thing being I'm only purposely checking ringed planets near inhabited areas.
Funny you mention EDDB, I use EDSM to check planet rings in a system before scanning it. I have found that sometimes it doesn't have the ring data, until I scan it anyway (it gets my data via EDDi).

Drowner makes a good point about cross searching, so I, & I'm certain others, will still use Pris-Met DB for future mining missions, even if EDSM etc have more pris-mets listed.
Anyway I'm also happy to have contributed to the Pris-met database :), I look forwards to your update though. Automatically adding systems to the Pris-Met DB from EDDN will save me time uploading screen shots etc ;).
I will from time to time give info on RES sites where missing in the Pris-Met DB :).

Hey Drowner, I'm already involved in mapping where NHSSs occur (my current mission) & listing & searching candidate systems for new Thargoid Structures (see my sig), which is on ice for me atm. I'll randomly help in mapping RESs, but I'll leave you to scan every single rock! ;). Thanks for the tip on that Painite rock, will be very handy for unlocking the relevant engineer as well as just plain mining :).

Mapping has been a project of mine for a while now, too. I do it with screenshots. Have a look: http://edtools.ddns.net/pics/?Elite/-mapping Maybe you can find something useful there.

I map rocks roughly in the 15-20 km zone from RES center. More than 20 km and the average number of fragments drops from 48 to 35, less than 15 km and the pirates become too bothersome.

I did some research on number of fragments as well.

I will from time to time give info on RES sites where missing in the Pris-Met DB :).

That'd be splendid, thank you!

Interesting reddit thread :),
I thought that it was known though that haz res sites gave the highest yield (& yeah between 15-20 km is optimal :)), I think I read it in reddit (lol), yeah here

I tend to go after 1-2 asteroids then sell the minerals. I think I've gotten up to 30 painite from a single asteroid... so I just go sell at that point. With 4 collectors I can pick up all the fragments before I'm harassed, usually, even in a Haz RES. I also use a Clipper, for fast exits.

That's an impressive photo collection! The biggest thing I'm trying to solve right now is a consistent choice for which way is 'up' in the many RES that are out there. Relating to ring rotation direction might be the answer... since references beyond the planet aren't consistent. I have text notes on 9 metallic rings, and many more on icy and metal-rich ones. I need to put them into a more useful and searchable format. Right now they're just a list of content%, distances and direction.
I see that you connected with Yinyin, maybe something amazing is about to come together!? [big grin]
