Skyrim reinstalled - Mod help

Other than the glowing ore, I'm trying to stay away from the "cheat-y" stuff.
Wish I knew which mods required new game start, I really don't want to have to start another new game, getting tired of bleak falls barrow.

Most mods don't require a new start. Only ones that usually effect the story or your character (like skills and new starts, etc), New quests usually don't require a new game.

Most other mods can be installed at any time. Although some that directly effect the area you're in may require you to travel out before installing the mod. Such as the Open Cities mod (removes loading when entering a town). It's best to be in a cave or very far away when you install this.
Removing mods however, usually requires a restart. It's usually best to have a "test" save, to mess with mods. If you don't like them, uninstall them before booting up your main save.
Atleast that's what I do anyway. :D

I spend more time modding my game than actually playing it. Lol

Neat side effect, I've noticed that I now pretty much require a torch for dungeons because of the enhanced light fx mod.

Graphical mods usually don't, but if you mess with the game systems, it most definitely will. Actually I think you could get away without restarts if you force the game to reload the cells when you load your saved game. I seem to recall something about caching cells.
