Noob Notes: Things which are total rubbish. No station storage.

Total rubbish.

I've got mission cargo in my hold going to 3 different locations, and I see that someone needs my help with some sort of combat, be it a mission or a conflict.

I can't just store my cargo at the station, re-outfit my ship for battle, and go in and join the fray. No, if I want to fight I either have to run off to complete all those missions and then come back, or take the risk of going in to battle WITH my precious cargo (haulage) and losing it all and failing the missions that have unique irreplaceable items.

Why?

What is the very good reason we can't store cargo at a station (we can store ship modules).

Hop into a res site with cargo, you will understand the statement "risk vs profit"...

I have seen eagles willing to take on corvettes & cutters for what is in their hold!

Also, pirates usually have hatch breaker limpets(remember they ignore shields)... it's always great to see your cargo floating away into the void, while the wing of 5 adders nibble the crap out of you :p

Fly safe and do missions 1st!

Yeah hate risk

There's risk and then there is stupid game mechanics.

I want to help out a faction in a civil war and have a little combat fun before carrying on with my missions, carrying black boxes, haulage, and donated items I had to get in some far flung system.

Instead of enjoying the game in a way that it ought to be playable, leave your valuable and irreplaceable cargo in the station while you go help out in the war for a bit, you are forced (unless you want to fail your missions) to fly all that mission cargo to the several systems and then fly back to to the place where you wanted to help fight. If you haven't lost interest by then.

Meanwhile there is risk in transporting the goods normally, from pirate attacks.

You might think it a stupid mechanic, but trust me that this sort of thing while not making perfect sense to you has been argued to death.... The problem is that those that have credits to burn; if this ability were enabled, can easily be exploited. Especially for those people playing BGS on a station in a system.

Run the missions with the cargo, or ignore and wait for a more opportune time to save someone else. RNG in this game is set on the player -- not on the system. You'll see this sort of thing repeat again soon enough.
