Long (in system travel) mission rewards.

Recent updates to the mission system have resulted in higher payouts for missions which involve a long supercruise journey. Fine & good.
I just took a trip to Hutton with data delivery missions worth 75MCr (while I cooked and ate dinner, did the dishes etc :D). Fine and Good.

Checking the board just in case there was anything interesting before I left, I noted a mission paying 25kCr to pop to the local bottle shop and pick up 15 cartons of beer, and bring them back to Hutton. What???

Is this a bug? Have they just failed to consider the time for the return trip? Or is there a secret, unmarked bottleo /off license /drug store operating out the back of the local Hutton 7-eleven that does not show on the system map?

i thought there was a hardlimit in mission payout around 30m, everything above got automatic deleted?!?!

Yeah, a decent amount of the fetch missions do not seem to be working as intended in relation to distance from arrival point.

Also, the very last Threshers in the galaxy that they forgot to close when the chain went under is located nearby!

:D

Multiple stacked data delivery missions.

Each paying 3-5M these days.

I let people here know about this route a couple of weeks ago. Without exploits or cheating - just visit the stations in Sol, pick up 1-3 missions at each station, point your ship at Hutton and go have dinner. By the time your done 60-80M without playing.

yeah i do something similair for my money, only 130m per run :p

but i meant, 30m is the credit cap for a single mission.

Isn’t it per mission? If you took three missions for 25M Cr each, then I think you’d be ok. Haven’t tried it though.
yes that was what i meant, i should be more clear about that.

It is per mission. I actually took 2 x 25M passenger missions to the same (-7000kLy) destination to unlock that engineer. Got back with 50M pay plus about 100M in exploration data to sell. Took me a week though:rolleyes:

I've probably helped to get my own thread off track here. Nevermind.

The question was if some old lady pays me 4 million to deliver a letter to her grandson, why is he only offering 25k to go and bring him some beers to the same location?

I’d be willing to bet that the ‘go fetch us (x)’ missions don’t take the return distance into account.

I'd probably put money on that as well. No one is going out and back to Hutton for a few k. There are plenty of you out there doing long(ish) supercruise passenger missions for squillions - what are the payouts for fetch missions looking like at your destination?

okok that clears it up. still havent seen anything above 10m :p

Well, I haven't done it myself, so I could be wrong but I could swear 777driver has mentioned this a couple times recently, that's what makes me believe it. Was planning on going and having a look this weekend as I need a revenue boost after all the engineering I've been doing the last week or so (not that engineering is expensive, just my balance has only been going down, albeit slowly), and my T9 has been doing nothing since the boom deliveries in Sol dried up.

Just to check it out I flew back home at picked up a mission paying 51MCr. No apparent issue.
Going to dump it now as I have no intention of schlepping this secretive criminal mastermind 28kLy and back for any amount of (faux)money.

I'd just like some ship interaction personally. I don't mind long travels, I just think that you could be rewarded with better FSD performance (both jump range and cruise speed) for fine turning your FSD by making slight alterations that can be done during a long travel or before a big jump.

Better fine tuning gets you a faster cruise but screw up somehow and you loose that extra speed (maybe even slow down below the default if you fail enough times).

For those that don't want to do it or don't like it, fine don't use it. If you don't use it, what we have right now won't change. Just point your ship and push forward on the throttle.
