Uggh need help again! Reinstall ED required?

I'm getting a touch jaded with this one step forward two back setup.

Perhaps I should have done more research or perhaps there should be more info out there, who knows!?

Anyway Rift works fine (OMG!!!) coming to play ED though :(

Of course I fired it up from the desktop and put on the Rift... eventually I get the message "Sorry ED..64.exe is taking a while load... please check the app".

So I do a bit of a search and find this: https://www.vrheads.com/how-enable-vr-elite-dangerous

Which basically says I need to unistall ED and reinstall via either Oculus or Steam VR after I get a partner key

Did I say I live in the country and just spent 40+ hrs Downloading the game to the new machine?

So be it if this is required I am just going to have to do it... but PLEASE is there ANYTHING ELSE that I'm either going to have to buy or Download once I've done that before I can actually play ED in VR? Anything?

Because I just can't take anymore [where is it]

Nope, you can run your existing version...

(I did respond to your other thread.)

What GPU do you have? When I had a less powerful one, ED would load on the PC, but not on the rift until the preparing shaders phase.

One other thing you might want to check. Because the game is not known to the Oculus software, you do need to tell it that it can play 'unrecognized' games. Not sure exactly where this setting is, probably in the Oculus software settings).

Start the game so it displays normally on your monitor, go into options, graphics and change to HMD. It will (Should) see that you have an HMD connected, allowing you to make this change. Shut down and restart the game again, it should now come up in the rift as long as it is connected to your PC correctly.

OR,

Do it through ED Profiler....EG Red Box shows HMD setting. set your settings, click apply this will push them to the graphic settings in game, save the profile as a name you EG 'GunnerBill VR'. Launch ED from the big button down on the bottom left, this will start the launcher and then just press Play button, don headset and enjoy!

I'm just not seeing a HMD option anywhere! Where should it be?

Rebooting just to be sure.

I was having an issue at first, seeing the option to select HMD in Elite. In Oculus Home, make sure you've run through all the setup steps and go into settings and enable "allow third party applications" or something like that. Then reboot your machine and go through Wasp's steps above.

All sorted now!

Cheers for all the help chaps :D

And btw - OMG! The leather texture on my outfit, the stitching, how big are the stations inside????? OMG!!!!!
