Star Wars Battlefront 2

I read a comment on one YT video that Disney may have stepped in and reminded them they have a couple of movies coming out soon, really soon, and EA/DICE are taking a dump on their franchise. I like that theory. Disney could withdraw this money spinning license from EA.

This will not stop. People will keep buying and pre-ordering those games and loot crates and big companies will just calculate that they can loose some PR to a few vocal YT-ers and upset community but if the money is flowing, they will keep this trend going. Why would they stop? That would be just bad for business. This will be a standard model for a years to come, mark my word.

Yesterday i was commenting on the I09 and Kotaku feeds on facebook about all of this, because Kotaku gave a negative review for the game and i was surprised at the number of posters in the comments section defending the game and its MT practices.

Although there has been a massive backlash to EA about this game, its obvious that the public are still not united behind reform and now that EA has removed the MT's from the game for now (stating that its temporary) i have no doubt that EA will sneak them back in little by little and the united front we see now will not rally so hard for each Feature creep of the MT's return to the game.

However this backlash is a great sign that people are finally noticing and starting to draw lines. A corner has been turned i hope.

I'd love to see the sales figures for battlefront in 2 months time.

P.S i wonder if Mac posts on this forum? i Know he plays ED.

Also it is clear that EA just switch off MC to change PR and headlines. They did not backed up, its off until they start to slowly putting it back in. Also I`m pretty sure that outcry from us gamers triggered all this discussions about "in game casinos" (the investigation in Europe for example) and even headlines in some financial magazines and that this finally persuaded Disney to call EA and say - back off for now, we losing money and you made us look "evil" lol.
The announcement is like - "we are very sorry that we did not fooled you, we turned off casino for now", dont get me wrong its great that they stopped for now but its not over. I suspect they will be just more subtle with this stuff.

I dont believe so, he as upset about Horizons as far as I remember, I follow his channel and there was no mentioning of ED for a long time.

Looks like governments are now investigating the gambling mechanics of Microtransactions in games.

Yes, and they should ban it with EA altogether.
The source of many problems in gaming world would suddenly disappear.

Man, the problem with EA is also that they drag DICE's good name into the ground since they have by all account made a good game and then all the monetizing crap is crammed in and destroys everything.

It's supposed to be a good single player campaign, no?

No. It's short and not really an Imperial story. About 4 hours on normal.

I bought this and refunded after a few hours. Not because of any loot box drama though. I refunded because I felt it wasn't a good game at least on the Multi side. It felt very arcadey, very chokepointy spawn die spawn die spawn die. I suppose it's different tastes and all that but it wasn't for me at all.

Yes. It is a lovely looking game no doubt. But I felt it was all sparkle but little substance. Very clumsily concealed linearity in the levels with the aforementioned chokepointing forcing sides together.

I've played 500 hours of the brilliant BF1 but I refunded this rubbish after 5 hours.
Heh. BF1 was, for me, rage-inducing. I stopped playing after about 150hrs because I was so fed up with the snipers. Then DICE rebalanced the other classes and gave the medic an automatic rifle. It rehabilitated the game somewhat, but it's still nowhere near as good as BF3, BC2 or BF2(142).

chokepointing forcing sides together.
That's really a development from Operation Metro in BF3 - it was the first BF map I can recall that literally forced players into two or three locations in order to progress. Meatgrinding as opposed to flanking. Awful.

The reviews I read and watched were very negative about the SP.
There is immersive stuff, but the writing is said to be incredibly cliche and corny.

Another Star Wars game I will ignore.

I have given up on the SW franchise.
It is dead.

So...

- Crappy single player "campaign" linked with multiplayer maps?
- Shorts as hell and more of an introduction to multiplayer
- Only to realize that multiplayer is nothing like single player since people purchase upgrades to stay competitive
- And PVP balance is nowhere to be seen in a game apparently SOLD as multiplayer PVP...
- All in the name of the mighty dollar...which apparently they will see little of.
- And then they downsize DICE since they OBVIOUSLY made a bad game with poor sales and it had nothing to do with the marketing department and other idiots adding loot boxes for money...

I just want one thing from DICE.

A new graphically updated and gameplay improved version of BF2142.

Titan mode was awesome and had some nice solid gameplay.

Could happen. A lot of people are predicting a return to ww2 with next year's BE release but they could just as easily go far future and hold off ww2 until 2021.

Anything Dice create will be overshadowed by EA. I will not be excited for a Dice game ever again.

I sucked balls, but I kept playing it.

really? did that help you concentrate?
