Modes Can we get more players into Open Play?

Maybe if they would make this as a PVP content you would have a safer Open since the fire will be directed to fight within the PP arena instead of everyone else.

I don't believe this to be true and I think that you'd also be foolish to believe that to be true.

When you were lurking outside George Lucas at Leesti this week, there were multiple CMDRs in combat-meta FdLs. Some were displayed as pledged to a power and more than one power was represented. You know this to be true. And yet they were all there not shooting at each other. And they were attacking CMDRs in trade-style vessels *Leaving* the station.

That fact does not reconcile with your claim that CMDRs would restrict their PvP activities to PP. So, c'mon, pull the other one, this is an empty claim and I think everyone else can see it for the transparency that it is.

Besides, if the game were to be reprogrammed such that CMDRs gained MERITs from PvP - all that would happen, and this is 100% predictable and a known definite consequence, would be deliberate and blatant cheating with "fifth columnists" (quote marks to denote sarcasm) pledging to a different power in order for their pals to destroy them repeatedly in a cheap Sidewinder. Which really brings into focus the mindset of some *competitive PvPers". I'm not saying all PvPers are like this. I deliberately said "some", not all, so don't get all sanctimonious on me, because, actually, you know that this is what would happen too. [yesnod]

As of today there is no point doing any PVE activity in Open, since it can all be done in the safety spot of SOLO producing the same results, I just dont understand why FDEV fail to see it as a huge drawback to the game. One mode has all the risks without extra rewards.

And yet people do PvE in Open.

I've been known to do this myself, but only once I a while in order to see how long it takes to meet with tedious PvP. By this I mean being attacked in my PvE vessel by a PvP combat meta-fighter. PvP wouldn't be tedious if there were something fun about it. Being picked out in my ASP (which does have decent shieds - for an ASP - before the accusations fly) for PK by a wing of FdLs is just plain tedious. I mean it. Yawn. I don't hang around, but I also don't "fight". Just fly in a straight line. If I get destroyed, big deal, I have plenty of rebuys. I'm not massively rich in game and the most expensive ship I own is Anaconda. Not even Elite Trader, I just enjoy experiencing the game galaxy and immersing in the game mysteries and a bit of BGS activity and a few CGs. Due to the amount of tedious experiences I've had in Open over the years I fly mainly in Mobius, but sometimes in Open, as I said, just to observe the player make-up periodically. It's got absolutely *nothing* to do with so called "risk" or "hiding", but somehow I get the impression that when PvP enthusiasts hear those reasons they just sneer and think that I'm not telling the truth. Believe what you will. Doesn't affect me. In fact, it tells more about the person sneering than it does about person being sneered at. Fact.

Tell me again why PvP players want others players who don't want to participate in PvP to fly in Open?

They really don’t realize how dull they are, “content” wise, do they.

Once I was in a mercurial mood, so when I noticed someone moving in to interdict, rather than evade, I let them. Submitted, let a few shots splash on my shields as I “ran,” and low waked. Rinsed, then repeated. After the seventh time, I tired of the game, and sent, “You DO realize I’m willing to do this all the way to the station, don’t you?”

There wasn’t an eighth attempt. :D

Open has all the risks while the biggest risk in solo is getting stuck in the mail slot.

It doesnt make sense that the rewards dont correspond to the risks in this game.
Maybe once fdev will realise it they will stop producing half baked content that dies 2 weeks after the release date.

I enjoy affecting the BGS from solo: it makes the experience more vivid for me. Any action I make can be counteracted by working in solo.

Cheers, Phos.

By all means take all the PVE content and affect it as much as you like, I am not touching PVE with a 10 foot stick.

Strictly speaking, the majority of things in Elite are PvE. Buying a ship. Collecting mats. Engineering. All is around you doing something in the environment. I'm sure you started off by doing missions or something to earn enough credits to buy better ships and modules. That's PvE, right there.

Open play all the way. The only time I have gone to solo is if an Outpost had no space and my mission was about to expire. I also went into solo once because I had quite a bit of business to transact on the outpost and people were wanting to land. So I switched to Solo, took care of my business, switched back to Open and launched. I prefer the interaction of my own kind and if they kill me, well I should have learned to run better; or not been so cocky.

I salute you.

Are you an active PvPer?

Don't worry, he needs to git gud at it. So we won't notice anything he does to our PvE universe.

I was part of player faction, we operated in Open, we expanded, faught wars, missions, bounty hunting. It was so dull I wished for some other player group to attack us for some challenge, never happend.

You dont need to teach me PVE, because I probably did more of it than you.
Also, for pvp engineerd ship, you need to do all the PVE you can think of, over and over, in fact its a second day I am looking for pharmaceuticals, I got 24 and I need 50.

Dont tell me about PVE.

If you started a PVP PG, and insisted that you all shot each other on sight, and booted any combat loggers or network lulzbunnies, you'd have all the PVP you could stomach :D

Correct, we already have all that in open though, I dont see the need in a PG.
