Is it Ok to be Speciest? Humans VS Thargoids

Is it ok to feel Superior simply because your human? I mean 90% of all humans slaughter cows daily so men don't have to eat salads. if all liveing creatures are equal why is Steak a thing? Not to Mention we have a few CMDRs that Think its "Not Ok" to kill thargoids because they are not hostile and are just kidnapping people. Last time i checked cows wernt a threat to humans on this scale and yet we commit borderline bovine genocide daily, and i feel nothing for the cows , other than "mmmm good steak" , (i like my steak medium well btw)


I know some one will say "cows are not sentient creatures ,so its ok to kill them and eat their flesh" and they would be wrong

Here is the definition of Sentience Straight from the all knowing AI progam it self, Google: Sentience is the capacity to feel, perceive or experience subjectively.In other words cows are sentient, yet we eat them , with out a second thought ( i know i do ) With out thinking "hmm, i wonder if this burger had a family"

So why are people so hung up about shooting thargoids? whoopty doo what ever there intentions are , they are a threat , and they need to die

I know i have been making alot of thargoid related posts lately: but this thread is more philosophical than game related, And i was just wondering the Communities position on Speciesm was

Personally, my daddy told me "Eat what you kill". With the implication that you don't kill what you aren't going to eat. I don't account for what other peoples' daddies told them, but that was mine. I've never seen a Thargoid in the flesh, or carapace, whatever their thing is, but judging by their technology, they don't look like they'd be especially tasty.

Also, I've killed plenty of humans in game, but that's only if they've fired at me first. That's simple self-defence, which my daddy had thoughts on as well. Thargoid's never fired at me yet, they've only sniffed around me like a curious dog and then wandered off to do Thargoid stuff, whatever that is. I suppose, when one does fire upon me, then we can talk about what I'd do. I've got a pretty good idea what that would be though. I'm not stupid, so I don't usually find myself in battles I won't win.

but really, what if you see a dieing dog animal in the road, there is ho hope for survival, you have 1 round in the chamber, what do you do?

I don't know about you, but I'm not one for walking around with a firearm and one round in the chamber for random reasons, so that's an odd question to ask.

I can't wait to see how eeew, or heeeey an actual Thargoid looks in Elite.

Or perhaps, as I speculated before, the ships we encounter are living Thargoids in their own right.
Their ships might not have pilots, because their ships are them.

Perhaps Thargoids have no qualms about extreme genetic adaptation.

cmdrs kill thargoids for the same reason people eat steaks: someone puts them before their noses, which is good business. they are also told it tastes good and they believe it, no questions asked. they even went so far as to say it's healthy. which it isn't.

metaphors aside, pixel thargoids aren't sentient. you bring the suffering of billions of scentient beings on par with your flimsy and frivolous first world dilemmas. wrong comparison. try again.

I'd love to see you argue to any animal that can eat a human, why it shouldn't. The tiger is no more speciesist than I am when I eat bacon.

In my time I have killed millions.

So many board games, so many video games where I have killed objects that do not exist. It's a game and not an indicatin of real life proclivities.

what part of "philosophical" do you not understand? the point of this post was " is it ok to kill sentient life as long it wasn't part of of your species" , i was useing thargoids as an example & i was useing the cows as an example too, Also i have to point out you useing " pixel thargoids" is basically saying its just a game, when the thread isnt about ED, its about being speciest...

Last time I checked Homo sapiens was an omnivorous species. It's simple as that. :)
Thargoids have nothing to do with it.
