Completely agree. I don't feel guilty about the things I like, a lot of people don't like what I do anyway :D

I love the Bayonetta games (some people would consider that a guilty pleasure), sure they're filth, but as far as hack and slash goes they're great games and have their tongue firmly in their cheeks.

I used to watch a show called Stingray, and I think the star of that one was Nick Mancuso. He drove a Stingray and went around helping people solve their problems

We have a winner!

He was a sort of cross between MacGyver and the Equaliser. As I recall he never wanted paying, he would just show up at some point in the future and you’d owe him a favour. The series revolved around him calling in favours in order to get more favours. Or something.

Even though it was dreadful I’m ashamed to admit I’d probably buy Whiz Kids if they ever released it on DVD...

It is one of the best series in existence.

So is Dexter one of the best shows ever, but both of those shows are about people engaging in morally bankrupt practices who ruin other peoples lives for their own selfish reasons. The fact that it's awesomely written, acted and directed doesn't change the nature of the filthy subject matter, hence my "guilty pleasure" tag.

Damn. Forgot all about The Equalizer. I used to love that show! Truth be told, I even enjoyed the modern movie adaptation with Danzel Washington. Speaking of guilty pleasures, I think I kind of love Danzel Washington, too, for that matter.

Well, who doesn’t, really?

I rewatched the first couple of series of The A-Team, and two things struck me: one, it was surprisingly well written, and two:the helicopter stunt pilots were clinically insane.

Mind you, that seemed par for the course back then. There was a story I heard about one of the Airwolf pilots. He’d taken off for a shoot, only to be told there was a problem with one of the cameras and he should just amuse himself for ten minutes. He took the helicopter about half a mile out to sea (they were filming on the coast) and started casually looping the helicopter!

Mad as a sack of badgers.

I vaguely remember that. Some years ago I actually got to see Simon doing a touring production of "Sleuth". Wonderful actor, lots of presence. No longer with us, alas.

I've often wondered whether, given the interest in cult TV these days, there would be any mileage in a book on the lesser-known series. Forget The A-Team, Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazzard... I'm interested in the forgotten ones, the ones that got cancelled after a few episodes, the mid-season replacements that never got picked up for a full run.

Mind you - one of my real guilty pleasures used to be Sliders. That and late 80s-mid 90s Japanese cyberpunk anime. Bubblegum Crisis, Cyber City Oedo 808, that kind of thing.

(I don't remember that particular Stingray, but Gerry Anderson has a special place in my childhood.)
