Amazing

I got the rift setup and was amazed. The scale is mind blowing. But flying seems so natural, like you're a part of the ship. Combat is indescribable, flying around the asteroids... The scanner makes total sense now.

I don't like where the left and right panels are located, to far left and right. The message comms is too close as well. I got a slight bit of motion sickness down on the planet when I turned the SRV very sharply. But enjoyed driving it non the less. I got a little of the motion sickness as well when flying the FAS and turning it too quickly but it goes away very fast. Early on, when flying the DBS close to the stations it was bad. But I think I'm getting used to it.

The galaxy map was a pain to set up but once setup not so bad. It was a real trip to fly the Corvette. I think the nose is 5 miles long! But again, flying is so much more natural.

But the flying and the combat... Wow...

I'm done. It's over. I'm hooked. VR is my DOC.

Welcome to an ever growing 'Fantastic Experience' Club that is VR. This is growing not only in numbers but in technology as well and with this next years technology promising exciting things (Pimax) the this Club will only get bigger and better.

Enjoy your Rift, my club member friend.

Welcome to the VR club! If you aren't already using them, I recommend grabbing Oculus Tray Tool, EDProfiler, and perhaps the best VR friend known to EDVR humankind, Voice Attack. A whole new world of tweakage is open to you!

Fly on!

Another welcome to the VR club from me ... it's ace isn't it!

Quick comment on motion sickness (especially in the SRV, which I suffered from originally) ... don't push it! If you start to feel sick then stop for a bit, otherwise you can build up an association between VR and motion sickness that can get worse. As long as you take it easy at first you'll soon get used to it and find that you don't feel nauseous at all. Another thing that helps (well, it helped me) is to get one of those little clip-on desk fans. Having a gentle breeze blowing in your face really helps (a bit like having the window open in a car).

Nah, Just about 130m or so give or take :p

I also recommend the Fer-de-lance, and the vulture makes me feel like Vader.
Year and a half in or so and I still get the "Woah!" ocasionally when I come in through the slot, or res site, or all kinds of things really.

Whilst we are on about Favourite Cockpits in VR, mine is the Imp Courier, ok it's a bit 'Coffin-ish' but quite adpt for my fight style maybe ;)

Welcome to the ED VR brotherhood OP - glad you are finding out many things make more sense in ED with VR - Frontier have done an excellent job in this respect.

Not sure about others but I find I forget all about balance, beige planets, min/maxing, storyline progression when playing ED in VR - that's all "noise" happening outside of the HMD...

without a shadow of doubt VR has extended my playing interest in ED, i ask "What ED Bugs"? ;)

Yeap, the scale is AMAZING.

Try standing up and walking behind your chair as you fly ;-)

I managed to set mine up so I could look down the hole in the floor behind you in the type6 and caught a glimpse of the lower cockpit! Anyone stepping out of the cockpit during frameshift drive? Made me wobble at first!

Welcome and may I suggest EDDI2. Ther's nothing like arriving in a system or scanning a planet and have the info about it read to you automatically by voice. As we all know reading text sucks in VR (and in real world too hihi). On top of that it makes the game a little more alive.

I have voice attack, just need to remember the commands... I hadn't used it in a while and it seems to lag a bit when dropping the engine power and a couple of other things... You don't miss a message as it tells you that you have one. They have improved it nicely since I used it last. I'll definitely check out the Oculus tray tool. I have the profiler, it will get the profile but doesn't seem to change it every time.

Thanks for the tips and kind words Alex.

Something else to checkout in the coming days... Thanks!

Glad you're enjoying it. Been playing it in VR for over a year now and it still amazes me every time I fire it up. The wow factor just doesn't seem to get old. Even when the mission grind starts to feel a little bit tiresome, you'll fly round a planet in orbit and catch the sight of a star emerging from behind the crest, and it's just, WOW! This is incredible! After a night of exploring or mission running, it's nice just to park up on a moon with a view, use the camera to put yourself down on the surface, and just sit back and chillout to the view.

With the SRV, just take it easy and drive around slowly until you get used to it. For the first couple of times I did, just to get used to the up and down motion as you go over ridges and things. Once you get used to it though, you'll be busting round at top speed and catching plenty of air time off jumps etc. Love doing big jumps in the SRV in VR, or driving at high speed doing handbrake spins. VR makes driving the SRV fun.

install a docking computer (just for this) let the ship dock, and stand behind the pilot seat while your ship enters the station..its an excellent VR moment, especially if in a larger cockpit like the Cutter. If it wasn't for VR, I probably wouldn't be playing Elite much anymore, it makes the game something else entirely
