PvP recently got ganked

well, I got ganked for the first time,
even managed to shake his first interdiction off,
but he came back, so I submitted, (was not doing it again)

but, it has not put me off Open,
hell, I enjoy open, even, If I do get upset for having to get sent back ALLLLLL the way back from Maia, (25 jumps and a hour of life, meh)

atleast I wasn't doing ironman mode

The threat of gank is appealing for some players who want danger to break up the tedium.

If you outfit your ships well, with even minor engineering, the vast majority of ganks are escapable. You will have to sacrifice a little jump range for some protection, but it's worth it. There are some tricks to mitigate chain interdictions (other than hi-waking), which hopefully you learn as you continue to play in open.

What were you flying OP?

dimond back outfitted to light combat/ stealth, and exploration,

I didn't lose too much just a little over 400k cr (of 2 milsomthing in the bank) rebuy, though, I should have dropped and or highwaked

but the ganker(ie?) was in a clipper or cutter, whilst I survived for enough time to charge my drive, but I had to heatsink, which, unfortunaly showed my postion..

Open is fun... but your ship had to be PvP ready even though you do mainly PvE.

I.e. mine are usually armed for PvE (i.e. my Powerplay Cobra), but capable of getting out of PvP situation... it's a compromise, but at least I don't have to hide in Solo.

The only ship that kinda sucks in PvP is my Anti-Thargoid gunship. But only a [ahem] would attack players who carry with AX weapons. Yes they exist.

It somthing we all sooner or later come across, the player who enjoys interdicting other players for the Lulz.

Im sure for the most part its not the rebuy thats erksome, its the time and mission/scandata thats potentially lost.

You shook off the first interdiction and stayed in the supercruise instance and still managed to get pulled? All you had to do was high-wake out or monitor your radar/history tab to see if he came back. Situational awareness will keep you out of danger.

Ryan is right, but its something we all learn. Now youve learnt next time will be different.

PVP wise you migh be out of your depth, depending on skill and build, but the playing field is more level durring the interdiction, as no ammount of A rated or engineered mods can help you there. The only thing the interdictor can do is up the range and angle of capture, and that only allows you to grab your victim sooner rather than chase them for ages and get behind them etc. Once captures in progress its all down to skill with the controller, and you ability to boost and high wake if needed.

You can also drop back into normal space and hope to get a different instance as opposed to High wake if you need to stay in system for whatever reason.

I was -this- close to getting to obsidian, so I can scan the plannet from the safty of the station,

I tried to submit, buuut unfortunately, it counted as a failed escape, so I had an increased wait,

I'm not salty or anything, well, I am a little, but, I know for nextime,

That's what makes the game fun. I'm glad you're not going to hide in solo or a pg. You'll learn from every player encounter and be better for it. It'll show when you wing with people that mostly play solo.

It pays to know what's interdicting you and decide if it's submit time or try to beat the interdiction. In a DBX up against a Clipper, you're not going to outrun it.

Submit - High wake is the right answer in that scenario.

Speed kills

logging out - not fun
combat logging - its cheating, so nope
high waking, I would, if I didn't panic
low waking - I would low wake, then drop, then probably high wake.

Thats what I like to do provided im not panicing, masks your escape quite nicely.

that's the plan, he scans your wake, and your already in a instance before he joins the supercruise

I don't let them spoil the fun, because its gameplay, and I'm only a freelancer, no player kills (yet) unless its the few I got in CQC

Does it have to be be open Or solo? I go in solo when I travel, do peaceful missions, or (sighs) griiind in my unarmed DBE, and play in open when I fly my Vulture - it doesn't make me immune to ganking, but it does mean I get to die with a smile on my face, rather than a frown :)

I recovered quite well actualy, reby wasn't that bad, and manged to unlock farseer in a matter of hours/minuits/whatever,

currently building my credits up carefuly in open again, solo is no fun, IMO anyway
