I propose a sudden slowdown that can be done several times and reduces the speed in hyper-space by a percentage,

every use of course damage the hull .. and as the dangerous side of the thing I like .. the lower the speed the more the side is damaged..

I assume OP means supercruise, rather than hyperspace.
I'm still not sure how much use there is for a hard braking option - the only time you'd ever use it is if you'd missed the slowdown point for a station (or whatever) and I don't see how it's more useful than the V-maneuver.

Drop to 0 acceleration and Emergency stop works just as well. And you don't suffer damage doing that process.

Although funny thing -- I've learned that if you aim just right at a station -- instead of loop of shaming you can time it just right to come out of supercruise at the station without hard braking or emergency stopping.

no it does not work .. when it is displayed decelerated .. it is impossible to decelerate quickly even with acceleration to 0.. so this message decelerated in red is strictly useless, it's already way too late.

and the emergency stop is a lot of damage although minimum .. I never use the emergency stop except by mistake ..

it is faster to make a big turn the time that the deceleration does that I think.. I know how to avoid that with 75% motor, it's not a question of humiliation,

but sometimes I go to make a coffee, so I like the idea of an emergency brake, at the price of overthrowing it.

it already exists on the current planes .. it is the shutters (not sure that it can be applied to the space .. without air intake the shutters are useless)..

it is inverted thrust, already present but not very effective, to be effective it would be necessary to double at least the power of the inverse push.

to come back to the suggestion, it would be a reverse push for FSD.

The red message is a warning that you are being slowed down by a nearby gravitational field, it just lets you know you are getting to close to astronomical bodies to maintain optimal velocity, your throttle settings have no effect on it.

But how fast do you expect to be able to slow down from multiple times the speed of light? Surely a little bit of planning when traveling in SC is not to much to ask?

Ah, all right, so you're dealing with the gravitational forces of a nearby planet or asteroid field. Well, there's been a glitch to this that I've taken advantage of since 2.1.... Aim for the planet or asteroid field. Your ship will perform an emergency stop. You can more often times avoid structural damage doing this than dealing with it in an emergency stop.

Further, if they haven't fixed the planetary instancing glitch, that emergency stop temporarily puts you in the planet instead above it. Though it'll come out of the planet once the stop has been completed.

it's just a suggestion the FSD brake.

it is not a problem of planning, nor of humiliation, nor of being disturbed to make the turn for arrival at good speed, only an additional feature allowing more flexibility.

I do not really like the emergency stop, I never use it .. but a slower speed faster.. with heating and breaking of the hull will amuse me more.. in any case I would use it unlike the emergency stop.

The way the FSD works is, the stronger the local gravitational field the slower you travel in SC. When you take off from a planet in SC you slowly increase in speed as you climb away from the surface. If you are approaching a planet fast in SC the local gravitational field slows you, this is when the message pops up. You can use this for gravity braking, if you approach the planet fast but outside the exclusion zone you can avoid the emergency stop while using the gravity brake to slow you down. Many people use this method to get to stations faster.

So yes you can use it to brake fast if that's what you are after.

interesting, actually that's what i'm already doing .. i'm getting closer to planet to slow down faster.

if I have to be content with that .. no worries .. I'm doing well so far.
