Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

Like many other elite players, I'm an amateur astronomer, and this particular pattern is clearly visible in the Sagittarius constellation (is a bit west of the galactic plane, so it stands alone). Right now it is visible when the sun sets.
I read in one of the threads something about the curious arrangement of the data points and how they make an arrow, but the problem was the fact that since the planet rotates, it projects a disk in the space. But by looking at the pattern, I just notice the similarities to the one on Sagittarius. When I consulted my astronomy software (Stellarium), the name Terebellum appeared. It is probably a mere coincidence, but since Elite loves such mysteries, well, here's the Tinfoil Theory.
BTW, Terebellum is also called Omega Sagittarii

Clarification acknowledged. Thank you! It may be worth having a look, who knows.

Useful - I was starting to worry I was missing something by having that one blocked as he is posting so often, looks like I am not :)

I blocked him for a week, relented yesterday but am reconsidering. There is a point at which over-fanciful speculation with aggressive responses to polite requests for evidence and calm reasoned thinking becomes indistinguishable from trolling.

Sorry to post here, but is anyone else having problems going to the Canonn Science website? I'm getting a security warning and it's getting blocked. Ta.

Seem to remember I had to authorise the domain in my Norton to allow access
though on second thoughts it might have been Malwarebytes rather than Norton-I run them both.

I believe there were more messages around the bases. I can't recall the exact wordings, but I remember scanning a message that, despite it did not say "mycoid", it seemed to actually be describing an infective agent.

But also we have some direct observations, like the Scavengers that seem to be cleaning up sstuff from the surfaces to remove them, and some "wounds" in the spikes and such that actually look like some sort of degradation instead of an impact, like an infected wound.

I recall seeing more myself, I'll have to check my messages to see if I still have any. One in particular mentioned "stress fractures". Reading thru some of these, I can see how some of the statements could be interpreted as confirmation that they are growing. Stress fractures would be likely to see in something that massive growing out of a planet, but this is far from concrete proof and is 100% speculation.

It could be that the scavengers are cleaning off the bits of the structure that were damaged as part of the growing process. Hard to say ultimately, time will tell!

Can anyone check it please, Omega-1 Aquarii, planet Aquarii 3 Lat: 86.72 Lon:-165.15
maybe is a bug, or first ** discovered inside a bubble.
P.s i dont have any other info about it, its just was Tip Off

Always good to say what it is so ppl don't have to watch - crashed ship with a TS onboard. No idea if these are common. Didn't see any sign of a Thargoid crash, just a T9?.

Edit: Was it persistent, or did it vanish on relog?

Can confirm, we have a rolling thargoid sensor. At the site now. No idea if its new or not.
EDIT: scanning the datacore produces a message. Something about being stranded and smugglers. Seems unimportant but im not sure what its referring to.
EDIT2: quick google search reveals that the site was found last year.

My opinion on the hive ship theory

Each base IS a hive ship, seeded as per the barnacles, and growing.
...

Must say the looks of it, seems to me more like something old having partly been-, and still being- consumed; Either by the Mycoid, or by the scavengers trying to contain the spread by removing infected tissue.

I might speculhypothesise that the soil has been purposefully brought onto the site, as a substrate into which to dilute and filter the infecting agent, possibly now using recently added microorganisms (EDIT: Permeating the soil), which separate constituent parts and refine reconstituted clean material into spike pods...

4 new Aegis bases (so far) today. That makes 18 since the expansion was announced, out of an expected 20. Though really I was hoping they'd be attacked before they were all completed.

It's meta-gaming, but the speed the story is progressing station attacks won't happen until Aegis finish deploying their new stations.

I'm pretty sure FD want to keep the Thargoid action in the Pleiades for the near future, and that's why Aegis are adding so many stations...a sort of mini-bubble a little ways out from the bubble.

I'm still not convinced the stations will end up any worse than damaged with limited services available even when the Thargoids start attacking them.

Doh! I read that as 4 new INRA bases and completely freaked out searching the forum trying to find the reports! LOL

The restriction on only being able to fit a maximum of four (4) experimental anti Thargoid weapons per ship may have been accidentally changed.

This morning I was able to fit a 5th experimental weapon on my Gunship, so I now have 4 AX missile launchers and now a remote release flak launcher too. The descriptive field for the AX missiles still states a maximum of 4 experimental weapons per ship can be fitted.

Flak launchers don't count towards the AX limit, which is I believe intentional. Only missiles and multicannons count towards the limit.

Just got the Hodack permit. I was interested because the system description says there’s a link to Wreaken.....
however I entered the system, docked at the station &can’t see anything of relevance (Wreaken or otherwise), same for the surface installation. Strangely, although the permit-owning faction implies there’s a penal colony I can’t actually see any sign of one.

So what was the point of the permit lock?
