Christmas songs for the Docking Computer instead of Blue Danube

You know guys,

for a forum, where you have redundant complains about the game being a "soulless sandbox" without any palbable reason to commit or engage yourself in (and lacking player interactions), I find it odd that one of the most popular holidays worldwide shouldn't be celebrated publicly with at least that little feature implemented, that you even can either turn off or turn the volume down for.

:(

Try to look for the positive side of things, light up a candle in your life and share joy and happiness with others for a while. You are not alone in the void (unless you play Solo, of course...)

I see we have the usual mindless bashing of the people who would like to have one tiny corner of their lives free from the endless, endless, endless cacophony of poorly written and performed christmas jingles. "We must make everyone celebrate just as we do!" Is that really a thing now, if we don't celebrate popular holidays just as you do we are scrooges, spoilsports. The rise of, "If you don't like it you don't have to take partism." you just have to be assailed by it or you turn down the volume on what is otherwise a very fine audio background for the game, thus spoiling for many what is a really great part of the game, the audio!

Oh yes, people who are complaining about it being a "soulless sandbox" are now the same people against Christmas, or is that just a strawman you decided to throw out to mess up the discussion. We are discussing the inclusion of a bland, commercialised and what is now just a really very crass corporate selling opportunity into the game, nothing else, nothing else needs to be brought up. I have already said you are fine to have your santa claus bobble heads, christmas themed cockpit, hey you can even have a christmas colour theme for your ship to be purchased from the store, of course I might have to destroy it the moment I see it, but thems the breaks. It's the year 3300, we are adventurous pilots all alone against an unfeeling universe, I should hope Happy Shoe Giving day...oops sorry Christmas day is long forgotten.

Have it if you want, just don't force it on the rest of us, that would be crass, uncouth and selfish.

lol, I have apparently attracted the Scrooge's to this thread...
Really !, so everyone who isn't like you is a scrooge, next you're going to intimate that anyone who doesn't like this Plagiarised Pagan holiday is UNPATRIOTIC or un-western, make my stake from teak please it burns hotter.

But to others, its the best time, full of cheer, family and friends.
"Wine maketh Merry"......

Happy Summer/Winter Solstice to everyone, may your harvests be bountiful and your hunting tasty, may you have many more.

I seem to remember that in Frontier there was a selection of pieces that could be played, or none at all during docking. Perhaps a wider selection of music (including Christmas) could be made available?

I could live with that compromise, too.

I of course can't speak for everyone but if you'r like me, and I know I am, hearing X-mas music in ED would cause me to auger my ship into the side of the nearest station, moon, planet or star.

FIRST, everyone needs to take a chill pill.

It was just a fun, light hearted idea for the holidays. THIS again would depend on FDEV since its THEIR game and if they choose to show holiday themed events in THEIR game whether or not we, and I mean all of us who play the game, follow, support or take part in the events as part of our cultures. Playing this game and chatting in Discord has opened up MY world to many new internet friends, ideology, cultures and so on. I do my best to not stomp on other peoples positivity but I do respect other peoples views and opinions.

From what I see, no one is trying to force anything on anyone, it was a fun, light hearted idea supported by those who do enjoy the Christmas holidays. If you don't, I respect that BUT, I don't think our ideas would be immediately placed in the game. And if they were, this was something ALREADY planned by FDEV because it was something THEY support. Other games do this and it's up to those who paid for those games to take it or leave it.

At the end of the day, its a VIDEO GAME everyone...have a wonderful rest of 2017 and enjoy whatever you do to celebrate the good things in your lives.

fly safe o7

Yes it is, and your idea of colourful lights may be tedious, tawdry and boring to lots of others, so why do you feel the need to impose it on other people?

And apart from that, just who do you think you are telling me I need colour in my life, some sort of all seeing spectre peeking over my shoulder tut tutting because I don't have exactly the same tastes as you? If Christmas decoration and boring music is your idea of colour I suggest, as I did before, you keep it in your own cockpit where you can enjoy it and not stick it in my face. Can't be fairer that that right?

Holy crap dude who pi**ed in your cornflakes ? Maybe get a massage or something, Being so toxic isn't good for long term mental health.

It could be an option inside cockpits, If you don't like it don't turn it on.

The docking music is a tribute to 2001 A Space Odyssey, replacing it with christmas music would be appalling. I hear Christmas music at the supermarkets constantly, they play it on radio and on TV every five minutes even at the most inappropriate spots, people sing it on the streets and in the parks, to be so gauche as to replace the docking music with christmas music might be enough to stop me playing over christmas. You can have your santa claus bobble heads, you can decorate the inside of your ships with confetti, streamers and a christmas tree if you like, you are the only one who senses will be assaulted by your appallingly bad taste, kindly don't attempt to subject us all to it as well by replacing the docking music with christmas music and decorating the space stations in christmas themes.

Technically speaking, the docking music is a tribute to the music from the main title screen of the original Elite game, published in 1984. :D
