Unique T9 “Space Cow” Paintjob – Cosmic Cow has approved of this one – your T9 will look stunning! This is one-of-a-kind and will be sent to your account after the event.

Oh come on... not even a mention? The skin I designed back in June 2015 ;) :D

First of all I don't fly a T9 so it doesn't effect me overall, but I had to say making the T9 Cow skin a one off unique skin is a colossally bad idea.

I would have happily paid £5-10 for that single skin with the money going to charity - even if there was little chance of me using it. And I genuinely believe that more money would have been raised this way instead of a blind auction.

However - It has been one of the most requested skins in the store, and for Frontier to turn around and do this feels like a cruel joke being played on the community.

I think it shows bad faith on the part of FDev in listening to their player base, and sounds like it's been a marketing decision taken without that consideration.

Instead a more unique paintjob for SpecialEffect itself, or maybe offering a custom paintjob as a blind auction prize may have been more appropriate.

I may find myself making a personal private donation to SpecialEffect this year.

(p.s. I also think you have to deal with the eventual salty fallout from this).

It should at least be a Type 10 paintjob. :p

If anyone is curious, here's the kickstarter pledge rewards ....

£5,000 - Have dinner with the dev team
£3,000 - Name a frontier system
£750 - Name a planet
£500 - Name a space station

There's no reason why you couldn't "win" name a station with a £1 bid, so these pledge levels mean nothing.

Hey! This is for charity. Please refrain from making such negative comments. Your constructive feedback is always welcome, but to be honest, this type of negativity isn't welcome on a forum thread all about raising money for disabled children.

Thanks.

Pretty sure there is actually, the fact that you know as well as I do that all of those items will attract bids far higher, so you're just creating a nonsensical fantasy situation to give yourself something to be mad about.

Out of curiosity, do you also insist that every time someone takes the devs out for dinner it costs them a minimum of five grand?

Whoa hang on a minute .... Negativity? I think you need to look at your own posts for that.
I was posting the kickstarter pledge rewards as a point of reference.
And it is true you *could* win with a £1 ... you almost certainly won't, but you *could*, in theory.
And because you *could*, therefore the pledge levels mean nothing.

I would appreciate Edward Lewis and Red Anders not implying meaning where it doesn't actually exist.
Now, if it were me making such accusations, I'd apologise ....

Hi Ed, re: the link to the 24hr charity livestream event in the OP (which is over in the Planet Coaster forum), is there going to be a similar thread in this forum?

Could still do a special paint job or even a icon for the ship and just release it on the store and have the benifits go twords the charity. Might even be a good idea to sell the coveted black paint jobs in the name of the charity.

I apologise if you didn’t mean it negatively. It did come across that way (almost as if it’s trolling, needlessly critical and strange to add to this thread). I stand by that it could be read this way. Especially in this internet age where people have to be very literal with how they communicate. If you do have a problem with our charity event please contact me privately. I will not speak about this specific issue here on this forum again. Thanks.

It's a fair point (and a good idea) but maybe not all space cows are alike and you could make different patterns, hundreds of different cows. This one would still be unique AND you donated to Special effect. And it was the first ever and so on.

There really are some rare prizes on offer here and it's a brill charity too.

Oh I know it is mate, I'm not throwing a downer on the auction, the prizes and particularly not the charity in any way at all.

I like the different cow skins idea... wouldn't be be wonderful to have a randomised skin :)

True - very good charity, been supporting them for some time now. Had a lovely chat with them at FX17.

That cow skin is so cool. Sadly I am skint until the 8th.
Now I would love a orange fur skin with horns. Heelan Coo (Highland cow) style.

Good luck with the auction guys. Would enter it but will try to stick a few quid to the charity page.

Just want to wish Frontier well with the charity stream and auctions. I'll probably just look to make an ordinary donation though - I don't think I'll have any hope in hades of being able to bid high enough to 'win' any of these, sadly. For what it's worth though, I think the T-9 Space Cow paintjob is fine for a one-off auction item like this as it would certainly be an item in demand and likely to generate a high bid. I do agree with others that putting it on the store and contributing the proceeds instead might have generated more for the charity, but I can understand Frontier's thinking here. And it's not like there couldn't be other variations of the same paintjob or theme made available later that could be more widely available.
